Happy April Fool’s Day!

1 Apr

It was after dinner and M2 innocently asked if she could borrow my iPad Mini. I obliged since I had things to do and the iPad was just sitting there.

Later, after their snail catching episode, which I thought was worthy to write about (and I did), I reached for my iPad to start my documenting, the iPad acted up!

Every other word I typed in came out as ‘nugget’!

Imagine “It’s been raining again lately and this has caused a lot of nugget…”

Initially I thought it must be the new update of the app that was causing this, so I brushed it aside. But as I typed more… “Hubby has declared nugget on them and…” Eeesh.

When I mentioned this, the giggles came out and the beans were spilled! I’ve been had. Nugget-ed to be precise.

Earlier when M2 borrowed the iPad, she rigged the keyboard shortcuts to have every other word come out as ‘nugget’. Rascal. It was her pre-April Fool’s prank on me.

She was lucky I was in a good mood. The punishment: her iPod taken away for the night and if she has trouble waking up the next morning without her alarm (on the iPod), it’s her problem! Hubby thought I was harsh to take her precious iPod away and suggested I should just smack her for the prank but I felt it was unnecessary. The glass of wine must have mellowed me. In the end, a pre-April Fool’s hug to make amends and all nuggets forgiven.

Happy April Fool’s Day folks!

Thanks Bob Clayton

The community post-Bob Clayton era seems to be doing well. In fact, thriving and happy. So far there has not been any further deaths after his selfless sacrifice except for my phone.

I was admiring the aquarium with its yet-unnamed inhabitants a few days ago and I thought, “Aww… Aren’t you all so pretty!” and decided to take a picture to capture the prettiness, using my iPhone4.

I don’t know what happened exactly but I recall as I was about to swipe the camera from the locked state (of the phone) into action, it did not kick in. Am I that clumsy? I swiped again. And again no response. Then total darkness on the screen!

Horrors! What have I done?! I tried to press the home button. Blackness. I tried the On/Off button. Again blackness. Trying to maintain an unnatural natural calmness in this predicament, I announced, “My phone died.” to hubby and the girls.

“Yay! Mummy can get a new phone!”

“It died?” “How? What happened?”

Obviously there was concern but nobody came rushing forth to comfort me. M2 offered to fiddle with it but confirmed that it was indeed dead. Oh dear. What am I going to do?

Thank goodness the superhero Google Mum in me surfaced and, using the iPad Mini, managed to find the solution to the problem! The iPhone4 has been rescued and up and running fine since. Phew.

Should I Do It?

26 Dec

As we countdown to the end of 2013, I am contemplating to just update my iPad Mini to OS7. I must admit I have gotten used to my iPhone4 by now with the new interface because it’s all conditioning with daily usage. But I still don’t like those ugly green and blue message bubbles.

My immediate concern is if I leave my iPad as is for too long, my eventual free update may not kick in. Is this a silly thought? Not very tech-savvy, huh? The other concern is more of an irritation than anything else. I simply don’t like those little red dot numbers sitting at the top right of an app. Yes, my Setting icon has the red dot with a number one in it.

The last concern is most of my apps are upgrading to the OS7 look and feel and if my iPad is still in OS6 mode, well… would things still work? Again, not very tech-savvy, huh? As it is, Papa Pear Saga is not working at all on the iPad.

So to squash all this unnecessary concerns, I should just do it, update my iPad Mini once and for all before the year ends!

Decisions! Decisions!

7 Oct

I wrote this prior to achieving the unimaginable. I thought I would be stuck at level 425 for my Candy Crush for awhile but I finally conquered the level on Saturday night. Now comes the predicament (again). To move forth by playing on the laptop or wait for the update on the iPad. Hmm… Decisions, decisions. I chose to move forth and fellow candy crushers have sent me tickets to see me through. Thank you!

Thanks to my fellow Candy Crushers, I have moved on, on the laptop. Bye folks!

My second predicament is my other game, Zookeeper Battle. It now has an update to be in line with iOS7!!! Oh dear. Just last week, I decided to prolong the update of my iPad to the new OS for as long as I can. And now, my second favorite game has an update. Hmm… Decisions, decisions (again). For this, I’d say status quo for now.

I must say as days pass, fiddling with my updated iPhone4, certain features of the new OS are nice. I particularly like the torchlight and I listen to my music more. But I still do not like the green and blue colors of the bubble text messages. And the biggest unlike is the passcode to key in every time I want to use the phone. While this may be an added security feature, I think it’s an extra step and effort.

So my iPad remains as is, and my Zookeeper as well. For how long, we shall see. And if you must know, I zipped through the new chapter in the candy saga and am now at Level 433.
