Desperado, Part 2

14 Aug

Farm Heroes has been very unstable on my iPad Mini, it’s exasperating. Two nights ago, I decided to download the app on my old iPhone4 so that I have an extra device to play. The phone has yet to be claimed, that’s why it’s been at my bedside collecting dust. But technically, it’s not an extra device but a replacement for the iPad Mini.

Desperado? Yes. Somehow on the phone (both iPhone5S and iPhone4), the app is stable but on the iPad, it’s not; keeps quitting upon launch and wasting lives. When one is desperate for lives, desperate measures is the only way to deal with it.

I’ve also decided to take a break from Candy Crush because of the horrid home wifi connection that makes it difficult to launch the game on the laptop. It is really a test of patience and tolerance. And unfortunately, I cannot play this in the office because my office computer does not support the game and the iPad version has yet to be updated.

Maybe the break from candies is good but so long as I have Farm Heroes, I will be fine. For now.

BFF

12 Aug

The endearing initials, BFF – best friends forever, is timeless and every girl knows what it means. I believe it is understood and used by all the females in the world, myself and my girls included. But I am not sure if guys use this endearing term though. Anyway, my BFF is mostly my Secondary/High school friends; some even goes back to our Primary school days, that is, way, way back to 7 years’ old when we first became friends. This makes our relationship far longer than that of mine with my hubby! After all these years, we are still a close-knit group and there’s a lot of years that has gone by, let me tell you!

We have grown from being naughty, smart and fortunate giggly girls to successful, happy and giggly adults. From the day we left high school to pursue all kinds of career and direction, we’ve somehow kept each other in our minds. A big thanks especially in the 90s when technology and the internet boomed, we hooked up. Then Facebook came along and of course, the smart phone, along with a whole bunch of social apps, we have become closer and more connected than ever.

Two weeks ago, four of us met up. And it felt like we’ve never parted. BFF indeed. The laughter, giggles and giddiness had all the waiters and waitresses raising their eyebrows at us whenever they walked into the private room to top up our green tea. Despite our differences in worldly experience and all being mothers, the conversation always goes back to the good ol’ school days, cracking us up with new bouts of howls over the nostalgia.

I thoroughly cherish these occasions, so my dear BFF, let’s meet up more often!

Not a Wasted Weekend

11 Aug

MeZookeeper2The wifi at home at sucks! Thus affecting the weekend attempts at my games. I could not play Candy Crush on the laptop smoothly or even at all, rendering a short-lived happiness of the new chapter opening prior to the weekend.

Then my Farm Heroes, with its latest update for the iPad, keeps quitting upon launch and wasting lives. The frustration knows no bounds, I tell you.

Maybe I shouldn’t play so many games that rely on the wifi and go back to reading, particularly my Nora Roberts.

A small consolation, however, was an improvement in my world ranking for Zookeeper Battle at 16,598. Not bad…

But the biggest story happened on Sunday. At my golf club’s monthly medal challenge for this month, I emerged the winner in the Ladies category! This makes up for all that frustration as the last two events are definitely significant achievements overshadowing the wifi issues.

The Wait is Over

8 Aug

I had a busy day in the office yesterday and got home later than usual. Home routine automatically kicked in before I finally settled down to my devices to catch up with my games, which I did not play at all the whole day.

It’s funny how I always complain about being stuck at my games, only to find myself moving on. I was just ranting about Level 416 in Farm Heroes when the unexpected occurred: I passed it and currently, at Level 419. But this latest August update is very unstable (again) for the iPad Mini. Keeps crashing and wasting lives. King.com had better fix this…

And as I sulked over Candy Crush over the past many days, last night, I discovered the new chapter has opened! Wheeee….

The wait is finally over and I am now at Level 637.

It’s So Absurd!

7 Aug

I am still sitting forlornly at Level 635 in Candy Crush. Each day passes with nothing happening. Sigh. And now in Farm Heroes, I am facing an absurd task at Level 416 – obtain 130 apples and 200 strawberries in 19 moves! How? 19 moves… quite impossible and I may be stuck here for some time. Double sigh.

But on a bright side, in Zookeeper Battle, I have achieved a personal best! Recently, with each battle that I won, I would snap a picture to capture my world position; in case I lost and my achievement was not made known. But I kept winning the last few battles, hence I had many victory shots. M1 asked why there’s so many of the same thing in my iPhone5S without realizing the small world ranking detail. For this remark, I’d say none zoo-battlers are forgiven.

Proud to say, at press time, that I am at 31,848 in the world ranking for Zookeeper Battle in the app itself. However, in Game Center, it’s a different rank altogether but I never bother with Game Center anyway.

Prior to this position, I was ranked 33,623; 35,668; 36,495; 39,737; 42,262; 45,231; 48,892; 57,236; 60,426 and 63,870. That’s how many pictures I took with each move up the rankings.

Spot the ranking 31,848!

I Changed a Good Man

5 Aug

Last night, it was a rare evening with hubby, myself and M1 seated at the dining table, all engrossed with work. (M2 was upstairs continuing her Harry Potter marathon.) M1 was doing her homework, myself at Farm Heroes and hubby at his computer. We thought he was busy with work.

Suddenly, “Arghh! I just NEEDED a strawberry!” He growled.

M1 and I were taken aback. Why would he need strawberries for work? Then it dawned on us that he’s actually busy at Farm Heroes! Chuckle…

How did this happened?

Earlier that morning, I walked passed hubby who was seated in the TV room, diligently collecting coins from his Snoopy app, a game which I gave up a long time ago. I commented,“You need to play something more challenging than this. Collecting coins just doesn’t challenge you enough!”

“Try Farm Heroes,” I suggested.

And he did and got hooked. M1 accused me that evening I changed a good man while I thought I created a monster. Let’s see how long this lasts.

Back to Routine

4 Aug

The week long holidays are over for the girls. I’d like to think they enjoyed the break thoroughly – sleeping late, eating a lot, sleeping in, watching reruns of Harry Potter (on the DVD), not studying and not mind going anywhere save for that day trip to eat seafood. However, I frown upon the sleeping habits. Oh well, none of this bad habit now that they are back to school.

As for me, everyday that passes by is an agony of sorts as far as Candy Crush is concerned. The new chapter has yet to open and I itch to jump forth from Level 635. It’s more than a week now and I’ve been playing Levels 608, 617 and 635 alternately to get more stars! Terrible, isn’t it?

And to add to the aggravation, Farm Heroes has been very trying. I was thoroughly challenged at Level 404 and had to use all the farm equipments (which I normally don’t) to bypass it, and found myself utilizing all my equipments so soon again for Level 407. I guess it gets tougher and tougher. Now stuck at 413. Sigh…

Fifty Shades of Grey

1 Aug

BottleArtIt was a good dinner with friends after a golf game. As usual, a bottle of whiskey was brought along to be polished off with the meal. This time, it wasn’t the usual single malt but blended whiskey instead, Old Parr.

The bottle was very pretty with stained glass features and we talked about creating art on the bottle. I decided to take the bottle home and put my creativity to some good use.

The next evening, creativity kicked in and soon I had a sketch and a plan. I showed the girls and asked them what colors should I use?

Both chorused, “Fifty shades of grey!”

Goodness! Even children know about this book. No, I did not buy nor thought about buying the book to read. Back to my art, I felt fifty shades of grey was too much and decided on it being bright and colorful.

Stay tuned for the final result of my efforts, that is, if I can continue with this sudden interest instead of constantly working on Farm Heroes, Candy Crush and Zookeeper Battle.
