One Crazed Farmer

26 Sep

Level 677 of Candy Crush continues to torment me. So I vent my frustration in Farm Heroes. Thankfully, there’s progress in the farm until now. I am at Level 480.

Last night, I was like one crazed farmer using 4 devices at one go, swapping between the laptop, iPad and both phones. Did I succeed? I wish. I guess I will be farming throughout the day. Hey, it’s Friday and I can take it easy at work.

Should I or Should I Not?

19 Sep

Apple recently launched its new phones and OS. Now I am wondering should I upgrade (so soon again) when I had just upgraded not too long ago to my current iPhone5S? Several months back, my iPhone4 gave up on me and I had no choice and couldn’t wait for the new phones. How can one live without a phone?

Looking at the situation, it is most likely I will not change as I have already gotten used to my phone. But I am wondering whether to update the OS or not. I recall griping over the OS and how ugly it was especially over the message bubbles but in time, I have gotten used to it (the bubbles) and the OS. It was radical then the jump from OS6 to OS7 but with the new OS8, reviews have said it is not that radical an update but there are features that are promising, so maybe… perhaps it’s best to let the few million Apple users be the guinea pig first before I make a decision.

Then again, with Farm Heroes’ latest update, it seems to be rather unstable especially on the iPad. Although the fix was for a notification bug and nothing related to preparing it for the new OS8, it’s acting up and causing unnecessary loss of lives to play. If this continues, I may not wait for the millions of guinea pigs’ feedback and just update the OS on the iPad.

A Predicament of Sorts

18 Aug

Last Friday, Farm Heroes had an update for the iPad. Thinking the instability issue that I was having might be resolved, I updated but it was a grave mistake.

The app is even worse – I can’t even go pass the orange landing page to launch! Oh dear… Oh dear… because of this, I now have to carry my old iPhone4, along with my iPhone5S and iPad Mini around.

Looking like a geek who needs two phones to be connected, I never understood these people and found them amusing. A separation of work and personal connectivity?

And now here in my case, I have joined geek-dom as I need the extra phone just to have extra lives to play Farm Heroes to bring the sheeps to the hay in Level 440.

While being a farmer has its issues and challenge, crushing candies provided some solace. The wifi at home improved somewhat and just enough for me to work on Glazed Grove over the weekend. Happy to say, I completed this chapter and now, while waiting for yet another new chapter to open on Facebook, Farm Heroes is the continued focus.

What a Silly Mistake

15 Aug

Farm Heroes continues to aggravate on the iPad. So I have not been using the iPad as far as this game is concerned. And I thought I was clever to have Farm Heroes on my old iPhone4 but I was wrong. In my obsession to play the game whenever possible, yesterday morning I guess I have not woken up thoroughly, I inadvertently pressed at the wrong spot on the tiny screen too quickly! This caused me to waste 9 gold bars to continue Level 434 when clearly, I did not have enough crops to pass that level. Haish…

As you know, I had concluded the iPhone4’s screen does look a wee bit tiny compared to my iPhone5S and this silly mistake is a testament to the tiny screen.

Desperado, Part 2

14 Aug

Farm Heroes has been very unstable on my iPad Mini, it’s exasperating. Two nights ago, I decided to download the app on my old iPhone4 so that I have an extra device to play. The phone has yet to be claimed, that’s why it’s been at my bedside collecting dust. But technically, it’s not an extra device but a replacement for the iPad Mini.

Desperado? Yes. Somehow on the phone (both iPhone5S and iPhone4), the app is stable but on the iPad, it’s not; keeps quitting upon launch and wasting lives. When one is desperate for lives, desperate measures is the only way to deal with it.

I’ve also decided to take a break from Candy Crush because of the horrid home wifi connection that makes it difficult to launch the game on the laptop. It is really a test of patience and tolerance. And unfortunately, I cannot play this in the office because my office computer does not support the game and the iPad version has yet to be updated.

Maybe the break from candies is good but so long as I have Farm Heroes, I will be fine. For now.

It’s So Absurd!

7 Aug

I am still sitting forlornly at Level 635 in Candy Crush. Each day passes with nothing happening. Sigh. And now in Farm Heroes, I am facing an absurd task at Level 416 – obtain 130 apples and 200 strawberries in 19 moves! How? 19 moves… quite impossible and I may be stuck here for some time. Double sigh.

But on a bright side, in Zookeeper Battle, I have achieved a personal best! Recently, with each battle that I won, I would snap a picture to capture my world position; in case I lost and my achievement was not made known. But I kept winning the last few battles, hence I had many victory shots. M1 asked why there’s so many of the same thing in my iPhone5S without realizing the small world ranking detail. For this remark, I’d say none zoo-battlers are forgiven.

Proud to say, at press time, that I am at 31,848 in the world ranking for Zookeeper Battle in the app itself. However, in Game Center, it’s a different rank altogether but I never bother with Game Center anyway.

Prior to this position, I was ranked 33,623; 35,668; 36,495; 39,737; 42,262; 45,231; 48,892; 57,236; 60,426 and 63,870. That’s how many pictures I took with each move up the rankings.

Spot the ranking 31,848!

OMG! It’s So Small

15 Jul

It’s been awhile since I looked at my old iPhone4. After all, I have my not-so-new-anymore iPhone5S to keep me connected. Two weeks ago, M1 asked if I could download an app on the iPhone4 for her to play. Rummaging for the phone from my drawer (it still has not been claimed), I found it and turned it on.

Oh My God. I was aghast at how small the screen was! It’s so tiny, almost bordering on cute. And I found it unfathomable how I had managed with it then, having gotten used to my slightly bigger screen iPhone5S. Amazing what an extra half inch can do for a person.

When I told hubby how I felt, he thought I had clearly forgotten my stance on my devices. Didn’t I profess my love and loyalty to my iPhone4 before? Wasn’t I dead set not to change? Well… people can change.

This is Embarrassing

20 Jun

It was a case of really bad connection at home that resulted in my devices not synching the weekend before; nothing wrong at all with them. When I went to the office the next day, all’s well and up to date. Rotating between my desktop, iPad Mini and iPhone5S, I have progressed on to Level 350 for my Farm Heroes.

Oh No! Not in Synch

This is me at Level 318 on the iPad.

This is also me but at Level 314 in FB on the laptop.

And here I am also at Level 314 on the iPhone5S.

Right after I made it pass Level 314 in Farm Heroes over the weekend, I discovered I was not in synch with all my three devices! Oh no!!! So intent I was at Level 318 (on the iPad), I discovered I couldn’t carry on with the game in Facebook on the laptop or in its app on the iPhone5S because on these two, I am still at Level 314 while on the iPad (where I farm most of the time), I have progressed on to 318. Eeesh.

I’ve tried to connect to Facebook every time I’m at it but to no avail. I hope this problem will be fixed soon. Otherwise, I have to resort to asking for more lives to get pass Level 318.

Obsessed Beyond Belief!

27 May

Last week, workload in the office was quite stressful. Add in the constant evening downpour that causes the going home drive (read massive traffic jam) to be even more unpleasant, I needed an outlet to destress.

So I downloaded Farm Heroes on my phone! Something I normally don’t do – having a game that I play on three devices. It came to a point where playing on the laptop (and occasionally on the desktop in the office) and the iPad were not enough, I needed quick turnaround for lives without having to wait for people to send me, thus this decision. The latest level, 280, has taken over me, making me obsessed beyond belief! The spiders are simply horrid.

Subliminally, this is also my reaction to Candy Crush. I have reached Level 578 but this has been the mother of all frustrations! An unbelievable and ridiculous challenge, comfort from my other games does not seem to help…

Am I turning into an obsessed monster?
