Goodbye Forever

24 Nov

So I kept to my word and handed over to M2 the iPhone4, which amazingly has been still surviving well without battery issues after I upgraded to the iPhone5S. Hubby even upgraded the SIM card and had the old mobile number reactivated for use. Like a giddy child on Christmas morning, M2 began customizing my old iPhone4 to her liking.

The ‘Angie’s iPhone’ ID has been renamed to reflect her ownership. The layout of the pages have been moved around with most of my stuff either filed away or deleted. Slowly, my presence on the phone was reduced and her preference put in.

I guess this is really goodbye forever to my old iPhone4. No more relying on it for my Farm Heroes! Oh no. But thank goodness for the latest update of it on the iPad, the game is now more stable.

Old as it may be to me, the iPhone4 is a new phone for M2, a new beginning. Goodbye iPhone4, be good to M2 and serve your new owner well.

So Silly of Me, Part 2

18 Nov

Ever since I went past Level 525 in Farm Heroes on the iPad, the app quits every time it’s launched. Hrmph! So annoying. I have to resort to playing on my old iPhone 4, yes, the old faithful, on top of my iPhone5S. I am now at Level 566.

To be frank, I noticed this (the quitting) has become more frequent after several update releases and the introduction of iOS8. I am still holding out on the update of the OS for my iPad.

How do I deal with the situation? I’d do a complete shut down of the iPad, count to ten or more and turn it on again, then the app is fine. I just have to remember to do this more often whenever I hit this snag. So silly of me… otherwise I have to carry two phones again and bring the laptop (especially for Candy Crush) to the office to carry on with my games.

Another Busy Weekend

17 Nov

Between attending a favorite cousin’s wedding and a golf game over the weekend, I still managed to find time to crush some candies! Boneyard Bonanza has been conquered. I guess it’s another round of waiting for tickets to come my way to move on to the next episode (in Facebook on laptop because Boneyard is the last chapter appearing on the iPad until an update comes along).

A quick check on Candy Crush Wiki (http://candy-crush-saga.wikia.com/wiki/Candy_Crush_Saga_Wiki) shows the new chapter being Marshmallow Mountains. Mmm… I hope my fellow candy crushers will send tickets soon. Tonight when I go home and use the laptop, I will find out.

It’s Different!

14 Nov

I seem to have an on-going love-hate relationship with Candy Crush. I stopped playing lately because Level 717 has been just so hard to pass. I figured I should focus on the BMW Golf Cup and not let the candy frustration distract me.

But when the tournament was over (I managed to win the Longest Drive novelty prize, a Garmin Approach S2 watch, with a 213 meter tee off), I came home elated and went back to crushing candies. That was when I discovered the difference in the challenge!

On the iPad, one has to get 4 color bombs to clear the level. Definitely very hard to achieve. However, the same level in Facebook on the laptop requires one to get 4 color bombs as well as 5 striped jellies! That’s difference number one. Difference number two, the board starts off with 3 bombs for you already. What a headstart! All you need to do then is to get one more bomb and make those striped candies, which aren’t that difficult to make. Definitely easier than before, it took me only one attempt to pass the level. Phew.

As for my new Garmin watch, I will definitely be using it for my next golf outing.

I Had to Play It!

10 Nov

Prior to Candy Crush’s layout update on the iPad resulting in me being transported from Toffee Tower, I was actually stuck at Level 713 for awhile. It was yet another tough one to pass.

I was baffled how to get that one jelly which you cannot see in the beginning. Yes, only one jelly and you move on. I then realized it has to do with getting the keys to unlock the candy to get to the jelly. The last few levels in Boneyard Bonanza has a new element: keys to open the locked candies, which at times, are tougher than the Frog element.

Last week, I was in the midst of getting the keys when the girls hollered from upstairs for me to go up for the nightly ritual (the binkie boo act). Priority is priority – so I played the level as I was so close.

“You had to play?” hubby could not understand.

“Had to or want to?” M1 queried too. Well, none candy crusher (hubby and the girls) will never understand the candy obsession but luckily, they left me to do what I had to do.

Did I succeed? Thankfully yes and ritual was done, the night went on trying to tackle more candies. I am now at Level 717.

Did I Blink?

7 Nov

Candy Crush has been full of surprises. Yesterday, I came home early from office and was busy with some chores. Then when I had a little time, I reached for my iPad to send a fellow candy crusher a life because the prompt came.

So I launched the game on the iPad. To my surprise, Boneyard Bonanza appeared on the iPad and immediately, I was transported from the end of Toffee Tower to Level 716, where I am stuck currently (having played on the laptop on the last few many attempts).

I couldn’t have blinked and missed something for I am pretty sure the setup was not like this the night before when the countdown appeared for Candy Crush Soda. And because I did not touch my iPad in the office the whole day, I was obviously unaware of this new development.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t matter whether I blinked or not, the iPad is back to being useful.

It’s Somewhat an Update

4 Nov

I have finally managed to go beyond Toffee Tower. This means the iPad is not required as far as Candy Crush is concerned because Boneyard Bonanza and several more new chapters are only available on the laptop, not the iPad. Sigh.

Also soon after the questionable update, the app righted itself. The new King.com game, Candy Crush Soda, now appears on the iPad as an icon below Odus’s Dreamworld icon. It wasn’t there before immediately after the update. That’s why I couldn’t see where the update was.

However, it is still in ‘Coming Soon’ mode, I cannot play it as well. Double sigh. In short, the recent update is basically a prelude of a new game within the game. When? Coming soon!

It’s An Update?

30 Oct

Candy Crush released an update for the iPad on Tuesday but it’s a weird one. It announced that the new chapter has Levels 696-710 to play but looking at it, after updating, it’s no different from what I already have on the iPad! I say no different because Toffee Tower is already on my device and I am stuck at Level 699–in the middle of the chapter, the so-called new chapter all this while prior to this new release. So where’s the update?

Strange…

A Little Bit Unstable

14 Oct

The recent October update for Farm Heroes is a little bit unstable. I would be in the midst of harvesting the fruits when the app would just quit unexpectedly. This has happened several times already, wasting a life and a bumper harvest.

I am just wondering if it is due to the fact that I have yet to update my iPad to OS8. I am still holding out on the OS update as I feel the new features does not quite benefit me. Furthermore, I have heard that it can slow down the device especially if the unit is an old one. Now my iPad Mini is the first generation and so far, it’s been fast and I am happy with it. So I don’t want to spoil things. If this is the case, maybe I have to accept the fact that my farm will crash every now and then.

One Crazed Farmer

26 Sep

Level 677 of Candy Crush continues to torment me. So I vent my frustration in Farm Heroes. Thankfully, there’s progress in the farm until now. I am at Level 480.

Last night, I was like one crazed farmer using 4 devices at one go, swapping between the laptop, iPad and both phones. Did I succeed? I wish. I guess I will be farming throughout the day. Hey, it’s Friday and I can take it easy at work.
