A Little Bit Unstable

14 Oct

The recent October update for Farm Heroes is a little bit unstable. I would be in the midst of harvesting the fruits when the app would just quit unexpectedly. This has happened several times already, wasting a life and a bumper harvest.

I am just wondering if it is due to the fact that I have yet to update my iPad to OS8. I am still holding out on the OS update as I feel the new features does not quite benefit me. Furthermore, I have heard that it can slow down the device especially if the unit is an old one. Now my iPad Mini is the first generation and so far, it’s been fast and I am happy with it. So I don’t want to spoil things. If this is the case, maybe I have to accept the fact that my farm will crash every now and then.

You Spent What?!

13 Oct

It’s been a while since I had a call from home. M2 called me on the mobile and sounded very excited.

“Mummy! Guess what? We walked to Domino’s today for lunch,” she went on enthusiastically. It was a Friday and she had to stay back for cheer practice without coming home for lunch first. This is a one-off occasion and out of the usual Friday routine.

“Ah. You did, did you?”

“Yes. And you know what? The lava cake was so good! Sooooooo good!” she reported.

“I see. Maybe next time when we order Domino’s, we can get it too,” I suggested.

“Uh-huh!” she readily agreed.

“So how much did you spent?” I queried.

“Forty five bucks.”

“What? Forty five bucks?!” I was shocked. “You spent forty five bucks for lunch!”

“Err… Yes but there was change. Five bucks… and my friend paid a little bit for lunch too.” She tried to explain, “We ordered pizza, Pepsi, chicken wings, the lava cake…”

“You know how much I spent for my lunch today?” I interrupted her and went on without giving her a chance. “Five bucks. I spent five bucks for my lunch today and you! You spent forty five for yours!”

“Five bucks? Is that all? I could have bought you lunch with my spare change.”

Ooohhhh….. That child of mine. I was speechless.

Becoming One of Them

10 Oct

I used to shake my head and laugh at those Candy Crush addicts who would resort to texting or calling their friends or family for lives/tickets when they run out/need it. Well you know what? I have become one of them now. Not for Candy Crush but for Farm Heroes.

I am resigned to the fact that I am never going to cross Level 677 of Candy Crush so I stay focused on my farm. Two nights ago, I finally passed Level 505 (of Farm Heroes) and had to ask for tickets. My studious M1 has deactivated her Facebook account to focus on her studies, so I cannot be asking her for ticket. With only hubby and Rooney (official pet number one who has an FB account too) to rely on, I am still one ticket short.

In the middle of the night, in desperation, I sent ticket requests to those I know who plays the game and when there was no immediate response, I didn’t know what to do and went to bed feeling incomplete.

The next morning, when there were still no tickets that came my way, I WhatsApp-ed my gym trainer for help. Yes, unbelievable but I did this.

Revenge Drinking

9 Oct

Hubby chortled when he saw the big glass of wine I brought out from the kitchen two nights ago. He asked if I was going on a revenge drinking mode? When we were in Krabi, we hardly drank and when we did, it was only beer, on two occasions. We kept it a wholesome trip because the girls were with us. In fact, it did not cross our minds to even buy duty free whiskey to bring along.

Well, after a long day at the office, I felt I needed a boost and the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has been sitting there in the fridge for so long. Furthermore, the glass was supposed to be shared. And shared we did…Wine 1Wine 2

What Holiday?

7 Oct

We came home and felt drained. Somehow it felt as though we never went away. Things were put away and habits kicked in. I went about my Farm Heroes with a vengeance and managed to pass the incredibly hard 498. I am now at Level 503. Zookeeper Battle was also played while waiting for lives to recharge for Farm Heroes. And we also played with Roo, official pet number one, who missed us for the last four days.

As for Candy Crush, I only went in to send tickets and lives to friends. No point aggravating myself.

The girls woke up on time and are in school today, hubby left early for a meeting and I am in the office. The holiday is definitely over.

Goodbye Krabi!

6 Oct

The flight was delayed; departing 25 minutes past the scheduled take off time. I am not complaining for we are seated in Business class and very comfortable in the spacious seat without having to worry for arm space.

I think I will nap and mentally prepare myself to accept the fact that the holiday is over and tomorrow I have to be in the office. Sigh…

System Down

6 Oct

The was a power failure last night. The fan went off and it got hot. But when I awoke, the power came back. However, the wifi has been down. It’s our last day at the villa.

We made some new friends with the owner and staff of Villa Thalanena. We have had such a great time and already I am plotting another trip soon, if not to Krabi, at least to Thailand again especially after M1’s big exam.

The final touch to the trip is going home by Business Class! Hubby has outdone himself for us this time. Thank you dear.

Serenaded by Bull Frogs!

5 Oct

We came back to the villa, serenaded by bull frogs. I must admit, even for me, I have never heard such an orchestra, let alone both my city girls. There’s at least five to six of them and they sound like they are blowing horns.

Despite the rain that has washed out the last three days of our time in Krabi, we have enjoyed ourselves immensely without hurry and worry. A time to be treasured, I would say Villa Thalanena has been extremely pleasant. My Sunseeker bikini unfortunately never saw the sun and I remain uneven in my tan lines. Perhaps the next trip, we have to be more mindful of the weather. But until that happens, I am glad we did this trip as a family.

Tomorrow we leave this place with happy memories but we will definitely be back again because we still have that island trip to do, remember?

Change of Plans

5 Oct

We lunched at Akanak Resort and watched the intermittent rain, glad in a way we are not caught in the rain or stranded on an island. I don’t think it’s fun this way.

Our driver is a good host, planning our menu again for dinner. We didn’t have to worry what and where to eat, it’s all taken care of. Then instead of just sitting around, we decided to go shopping. After all, we have the umbrellas with us to walk the streets if the rain is just a slight drizzle. If it gets any heavier, we can always go to Tesco! Hahahaha…

We ended up at Jee-or Souvenir Shop. The girls bought souvenirs for their friends. Nothing caught my fancy because firstly, I’ve collected enough Thai souvenirs and secondly I have Krabi fridge magnets already. The weather continues to be threatening with another downpour as we head into Krabi town.

The next stop being Outlet Village. Nothing interesting so we moved on and ended up at Tesco Lotus! Heheh… Told you we will come here.

Well, what else can we do and where else can we go in this rained out situation? Everyone did not mind as we filled the trolley with junk food! And being silly showing off our DQ Blizzards.

In the end, I think the day went well and now we head back to the villa, satisfied and happy.

Killing Time, Part 2

5 Oct

There was a short little burst of sunlight after breakfast so we took that opportunity to walk to the nearby beach. The girls managed to comb the beach for some pretty shells while I made use of whatever sun there is to attempt to soak up some rays. But I don’t think it is working.

Hubby spotted the fast approaching rain from the horizon and quickly we packed up to head back to the villa. Thank goodness we brought the four umbrellas along for it poured before we reached the villa. Another washed out day.

Any thoughts of going to the island is now squashed as the driver advised us even the boatman is against it with choppy waters ahead. Safety over adventure is more important, one has to remember this.

Feeling sorry for us, our driver brought us to their neighboring sister resort, Akanak Resort, for a drink and a change in surrounding. We have all the time in the world now. So a Singha each, we might as well practice patience and just enjoy killing time.
