The Snickerdoodles

24 Jun

The latest bunch of Bettas are doing great, living happily and harmoniously. I call all eight of them the Snickerdoodles, thanks to M1 for this name suggestion. Or should I say they were doing great. Three days ago, hubby told me one of them has been bullied. How did he know?

It was blinded in one eye! Oh dear. Another one-eyed Jack in the making. Why is it they always go for the eyes? The most vulnerable point to attack?

So Snicker #1 is blind in one eye but physically still okay. Thankfully the rest are still intact but we don’t know how long it will be like this. We will have to monitor because when one is injured, the territorial trait becomes more prominent and soon, the inhabitants may pose a danger to each other.

Well, Well… Am I Surprised?

A few days ago, I lamented about King.com being inconsistent with their board setups for Candy Crush for different devices. And this has occurred many times on several levels. Guess what? They are at it again.

This time on Level 1735. On the iPad, it is definitely harder compared to the game in Facebook. No wonder I was having a tough time trying to figure it out. It was when I went into YouTube to see what others did that I realized the boards were different.

So obviously after learning this discrepancy, I played the game in Facebook and within the five lives, I made it with some lives to spare.

For the iPad, the popcorn squares are at a tougher place!

Maybe It’s Not For Me

21 Jun

Not too long ago, when I was tired with my usual virtual games, I tried another game, 1010. But I found myself playing it more with frustration than satisfaction because after I achieved my best score of 5708, it was exasperating that I cannot surpass that figure. Ugh.

The annoying part to it is that there is only one high score on record and only one board to play. Unlike my other games, I move on, I make progress and I can see my ranking. Maybe this game is not for me, like 2048. I’ve stopped since.

Finally

20 Jun

Monster Busters Hexa Blast finally updated and I have progressed. Yay. Likewise for Candy Crush, at 1732 now after coming out tops (again) for the Piñata Park chapter. And for Monster Busters, currently at Level 512.

On a much brighter note, I crossed 887 for Farm Heroes. Finally. Double yay! But find myself stuck at 772 for Soda. Sigh…

At It Again!

17 Jun

Why does King.com keep having differences on a same level for different devices? And this is not the first time. As I have been an ardent (professional) candy crusher and constantly journal about it, throughout my challenges, there have been several levels that I have encountered that has discrepancies.

I discovered yet another difference yesterday while attempting Level 1721. As you can see from the pictures, the board setup is different on the iPad versus the game in Facebook. Even the challenges are different.

Why do they keep doing this? Hrmph is all I can say.

See the railtrack on the iPad?

There’s no railtrack here on the laptop!

Taking Forever

16 Jun

Monster Busters Hexa Blast is taking forever to update. I am sitting at Level 1175 and going in daily only to collect coins. The other games have progressed well. Monster Busters itself, I am now at Level 501.

For Candy Crush, I am now in Piñata Park at 1722 and even Soda, I finally managed the difficult 765, now at 770. But the same cannot be said for Farm Heroes. Sadly I am still stuck at 887. I don’t know when I will cross this level as it is also taking forever. Sigh…

To the Movies

14 Jun

We finally watched ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ over the weekend. M2 wanted to watch ‘Conjuring 2’ after learning that M1 will be watching that horror movie with her friends. I vetoed her choice. What’s with my girls and horror movies anyway? I was never one for it.

My first (and only) horror flick that I ever watched at the theatre was ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’. Yes dinosaur years ago. It was my first term at college at NAU and my new friends made me go watch it with them. I think half the time my eyes were squeezed shut and the sound effects were enough to send shivers down my spine despite my fingers stuffed in both ears.

I may be brave to battle a rat but not so when it comes to horror movies. Ugh… after that experience, put it this way, it took me a while before I could eat a pizza without any horrible thoughts.

Now my girls are different. They relish watching horror flicks. I simply don’t understand where they get this. Why subject yourselves unnecessarily to anticipation and then fear? And then after that, be fearful of the night, of the shadow and of every single little sound in the quiet of the surrounding with thoughts running wild. Silly.

Holiday Over

13 Jun

The two weeks holiday went by quickly and M2 goes back to school today. Funny when we had the school break, workload at the office seemed to take a break as well. We were rather free I must say.

But as the new term begins for her, work picks up for us too. I have a rare face-to-face meeting with a new client today. Looking forward to the exciting new challenge ahead!

Third Anniversary

10 Jun

Come Sunday, 12th June, it marks yet another milestone as I reach three years of writing and keeping my blog going. Wow. Three years. Amazing. Never knew I had so much to write and share…

I can’t put into words what this means. All I can say is thank you and keep on reading as I will keep on writing!

Happy anniversary my blog.

Times Have Changed

9 Jun

I look at M2 now having her school holidays and can’t help but reminisce what I did during my school holidays when I was 15 dinosaur years ago.

Frankly, I don’t recall doing what she is doing now – sleeping in every morning (Mom would have my hide!), having late brunches, staying indoors as much as possible and surrounded by all the Apple devices: the iPhone to talk to friends on WhatsApp, the iPad for some playtime in between the studying at the dining table in the afternoon, the iPod and MacBook Air for goodness knows what else.

I do remember watching a fair bit of TV, playing with my dog in the garden, climbing my favorite tree, whacking a few tennis balls against the wall of the car porch, talking to imaginary friends and occasionally talking to a real friend on the house telephone. Half the time I was outdoors and never once I sat at the dining table to study!

Yep, times have changed. Gone are the days when one simply enjoys the outdoors, breathe in the fresh air and not worry about keeping up. It was always a happy-go-lucky situation. Nowadays, it’s a constant worry to keep up, staying connected and being indoors!
