Spidey Power

24 Nov

The TaylorMade Spider Mini putter has been in my bag now for several games. And surprisingly, I am handling it well.

The putter feels right, and it’s doing a good job. So far, I have been recording 31 or 33 putts. And this is with one or two three-putts incurred.

There was one game where I did only 12 putts after nine holes. It was such a confidence booster with six one-putts and the rest, two-putts. The Spider Mini was on fire! Unfortunately, at the turn of the game, the weather changed. The rain came down, and we had to abandon the game. Shucks!

Well, there are so many more games to play, and I hope the Spider power will continue to give me good putting results.

Forgotten Halloween

3 Nov

This year, Halloween slipped my mind. There were a couple of years I bought a watermelon or two to carve because pumpkins are so expensive. Unfortunately, this time, the novelty of Halloween was not quite there. Maybe it’s the wet weather putting a dampener on the occasion.

The last jack-o’-lantern watermelon, if I remember correctly, was devoured by the garden squirrel after we left it out in the garden. Perhaps it’s a good thing to skip the carving to avoid dealing with the mess after the squirrel’s garden party.

I guess Halloween is not a big celebration for us. More so when the mood to carve watermelons instead of pumpkins is not there. Oh well.

The Heat is On

6 Oct

The weather, of late, has been wonky again. It constantly flips between being hot, like a furnace, and cold, like being in the highlands when it rains. Unpredictable is what the weather is.

Playing golf in the afternoons is very taxing on the body when it’s hot. I find myself drinking more water than ever to stay hydrated. However, not all afternoons are hot, and there are days when afternoon golf can be a washout.

I’m glad I rested the last few days to allow my body to recover. Regardless of the conditions outside, I have been indoors chilling and doing nothing. It’s nice as I caught up with my reading.

Recently, there have been reports that the haze is back! The heat is on and gets to me. It becomes unbearable and uncomfortable. Sigh. I hope this won’t last; otherwise, we have no choice but to be indoors more than ever. We will have to monitor the situation.

The Heat is On

14 Apr

When it rains, I complain; when it doesn’t, I complain too. It’s a never-ending love-hate cycle as far as Mother Nature and the weather is concerned. The constant rain pre- and post-Chinese New Year has subsided; now it’s the heat! Unbearable. Cities nationwide and in South East Asia are recording crazy high numbers on the heat index.

I feel like I’m living in a giant oven despite being indoors at home with high ceilings and open windows for ventilation. This week, I’m taking a break from golf, so minimal exposure to the outdoors. It is mind-numbing heat that makes me want to stay home.

However, being indoors, sitting and staying put, and working on my miniatures, is no better. It is just as hot! And hiding in the air-con bedroom 24/7 is not the solution. When will this end? Sigh.

Is It March or November?

3 Mar

Time has flown by so fast that it is March already! But it does not feel like it. Typically, during this time of the year, especially after the Lunar New Year, it is hot and dry, and doing the laundry is great. All the clothes have that sun-soaked smell. I love it.

This year, however, it is cold and wet. And doing laundry is a bane. The clothes don’t get that sun-soaked opportunity, and they smell. Ugh. So yea, it’s weird because it feels more like November than March.

A Sleep-in Day

6 Feb

It’s a Monday, a public holiday, and a rainy day. The weekend has stretched yet again to a three-day, with today being a replacement public holiday.

It is perfect for a sleep-in with the cool weather and doing nothing, and the thought of working on my miniature pales to the lure of the sofa. The Weather app is showing a rainy day until this evening. Going out feels like a hassle with the wet condition. So it looks like staying put is best.

Itsy Bitsy Messy

10 Jan

So my new routine is now checking up on Itsy every morning. This morning, I was aghast because it’s a mess out there. What is going on?

I think the weather has a part in this mess. Perhaps the rain and wind have compromised the web, and Itsy decided to expand upwards. And debris has stuck on the web, thus making it look itsy bitsy messy. Sigh.

It’s hard to take a picture of the scenario because the iPhone XR can’t capture the web well, especially with the busy foliage background.

I hope Itsy can clean up the debris and make its home nice and clean again. With the situation as such, I have to check on it more than once daily!

The Struggle Continues, Part 3

13 Dec

The struggle continues with my golf game. It is like a roller coaster, one game playing well, then another, playing like a newbie. Like today. Ugh.

Maybe it’s the soggy fairways that are giving me the striking yips. But it’s also the putting. It’s unbelievable that I scored a miserly five Stableford points in one nine this morning. It’s all that three-putts! Ugh.

Everything could not work, and I was out of sorts. I attribute this to the nice cool weather and my wanting to do nothing. I should not adopt this do-nothing attitude for my golf!

Well, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a change in fortune to at least play decent for the remainder of the year.

Too Comfortable to Move

12 Dec

As you know, it is the rainy season now, raining daily. The temperature has dropped considerably, making life such a lull. In other words, it’s comfortable to do nothing.

And being Monday today, Monday blues have hit. I don’t want to do anything. I want to lie down and enjoy the cool weather. If the rain comes, all the more to just lay on the sofa to vegetate. I have never been lazier than these few days.

December, Oh December!

9 Dec

It just hit me that it is December already! Oh, my goodness. 2022 is coming to an end soon. With less than a month left, there is still much to do to fill up the days with memories.

December is a constant battle with the weather when it comes to doing the laundry. Will the sun peek out for a bit? Will it rain non-stop? The laundry does not have that sun-soaked smell during this time of the year.

December is also a month to get my Christmas shopping going! And so far, I’m on track. Yay. And yes, the home Christmas decorations are out, and it’s just the finishing touches here and there.

Being the last month of the year, December is also a time to wrap up things that started at the beginning of the year. Specifically, my DIY miniature, sitting at my station, collecting dust. I have not crafted so many this year, and it would be nice to finish up this last one.

December is a time for reflection on the year that passed. I am thankful for the good times and have stored away the good memories. I hope the remainder of the month will give me several more last hurrahs to cherish.
