It’s Somewhat an Update

4 Nov

I have finally managed to go beyond Toffee Tower. This means the iPad is not required as far as Candy Crush is concerned because Boneyard Bonanza and several more new chapters are only available on the laptop, not the iPad. Sigh.

Also soon after the questionable update, the app righted itself. The new King.com game, Candy Crush Soda, now appears on the iPad as an icon below Odus’s Dreamworld icon. It wasn’t there before immediately after the update. That’s why I couldn’t see where the update was.

However, it is still in ‘Coming Soon’ mode, I cannot play it as well. Double sigh. In short, the recent update is basically a prelude of a new game within the game. When? Coming soon!

Different Again!

22 Sep
Notice the presence of jellybeans inside the trapped areas?

on FB: Notice the presence of striped candies inside the trap areas?

on the iPad: notice the non-existence of jellies in the same area!

on the iPad: notice the non-existence of candies in the same area!

I stopped playing Candy Crush on the laptop for a while because I didn’t need the aggravation from Level 677. The level is just so hard, living up to its name as the hardest level ever. Rather than torturing myself, I figured I should just take a break from it and especially so when I have been busy with work lately. But last Friday, after a stressful week, I decided to go into the game on the iPad just to help friends with lives.

Out of the blue, I leapfrogged to Level 677 when clearly there was no update (on the iPad) to open up Crunchy Courtyard. Surprise! Surprise! Since I moved, I might as well play the five rounds.

But I discovered the board looked different on the iPad compared to the board in Facebook on the laptop! So much more difficult, it is obvious King.com has not been on top of things. Until they fix it, I should avoid the game on the iPad at least.

A little note: King.com has fixed the problem for the iPad before the weekend was over.

Staying Busy

11 Sep

OldParr2Progress in Candy Crush has hit a snag in Crunchy Courtyard. I was happy when the app finally opened in Facebook on the laptop and was quickly breezing through the levels but now find myself stuck at Level 677. Eeesh. Initially I thought it was a good alternatively to Farm Heroes when I was stuck at (the Farm’s) Level 451. But now… Sigh.

Farm Heroes’s Level 451 took me sometime to get through and when I finally did, happiness was shortlived as I got stuck at Level 454. Last week, there was so much frustration attempting these games, I decided to stop them for a breather and just stay away from my devices. Turning to my Old Parr bottles to paint, I finally completed the two bottles that I had painted the base earlier. Upon completion, I gave the bottles to my friend in exchange for another two bottles to continue this soothing activity when aggravation kicks in as far as my games are concerned.

Then, as always, when you least expect it, success! Managed to pass Level 454 but stuck at Level 460 now. Maybe I should stick to painting the four bottles that I have awaiting me.

Desperado, Part 2

14 Aug

Farm Heroes has been very unstable on my iPad Mini, it’s exasperating. Two nights ago, I decided to download the app on my old iPhone4 so that I have an extra device to play. The phone has yet to be claimed, that’s why it’s been at my bedside collecting dust. But technically, it’s not an extra device but a replacement for the iPad Mini.

Desperado? Yes. Somehow on the phone (both iPhone5S and iPhone4), the app is stable but on the iPad, it’s not; keeps quitting upon launch and wasting lives. When one is desperate for lives, desperate measures is the only way to deal with it.

I’ve also decided to take a break from Candy Crush because of the horrid home wifi connection that makes it difficult to launch the game on the laptop. It is really a test of patience and tolerance. And unfortunately, I cannot play this in the office because my office computer does not support the game and the iPad version has yet to be updated.

Maybe the break from candies is good but so long as I have Farm Heroes, I will be fine. For now.

Not a Wasted Weekend

11 Aug

MeZookeeper2The wifi at home at sucks! Thus affecting the weekend attempts at my games. I could not play Candy Crush on the laptop smoothly or even at all, rendering a short-lived happiness of the new chapter opening prior to the weekend.

Then my Farm Heroes, with its latest update for the iPad, keeps quitting upon launch and wasting lives. The frustration knows no bounds, I tell you.

Maybe I shouldn’t play so many games that rely on the wifi and go back to reading, particularly my Nora Roberts.

A small consolation, however, was an improvement in my world ranking for Zookeeper Battle at 16,598. Not bad…

But the biggest story happened on Sunday. At my golf club’s monthly medal challenge for this month, I emerged the winner in the Ladies category! This makes up for all that frustration as the last two events are definitely significant achievements overshadowing the wifi issues.

It’s Been a Hazy Week

18 Jul

The haze is back. Sputtering in the opaque and almost apocalyptic atmosphere, it is not the best in ambience as far as health is concerned. I almost fell sick last week after returning from Kuching, hubby has been feeling lethargic, M1 is falling sick and M2 is experiencing headaches every now and then. My poor family.

On top of this, my virtual world has also been hazy. I have just not been very focused in my games. I am losing far more battles than I should in Zookeeper Battle; Farm Heroes has been very trying and every morning, I wake up hoping that Candy Crush will update for the laptop only to be disappointed daily. Not being able to move forth has made me very lost, like in a haze. While Candy Crush did update for the iPad, it’s pointless as it only (like so many times previously) had my avatar leapfrogged to the end of the new chapter. In desperation, I just play the current chapter to get more stars. Terrible, isn’t it?

I just hope and pray the weather improves and my games mojo returns, and of course, Candy Crush to open up the latest chapter in Facebook on the laptop.

So I Worked

11 Jul
At the end of Cereal Sea

At the end of Cereal Sea

It was down to business. At the office, I started brainstorming on the design of a new hard cover book project, overlooked the layout of a quarterly newsletter and enlightened the new intern on Pantone colors and grid systems, on top of replying emails and doing some administrative work. In between when time permitted, my virtual work had me winning my 3000th battle in Zookeeper Battle.

When I got home, the virtual work continued. I finally passed Level 372 in Farm Heroes – a level which I was stuck at for quite sometime. I even reached Level 620 and completed Cereal Sea in Facebook on the laptop, the forty-second episode of Candy Crush. Since this episode is the latest release, it will be awhile before the next episode comes along. What this means is more waiting in hand for me as far as Candy Crush is concerned. The recent iPad update was until Wafer Windmill, which is the chapter before Cereal Sea.

So yes, I had work and I worked; it’s been fruitful.

I Have Work?

8 Jul

Dang, it felt good to slumber in my own bed this morning and not having to wake up at 4.45am, 5.15am or 5.30am. We were delayed half an hour to take off from Kuching Airport yesterday. On a high at the airport, we congregated for the final time and I gave my last speech for the trip. Everyone’s happy so I can conclude that we had a successful trip; evidenced also by the many compliments pinging away in the WhatsApp chat group. There may be some disgruntled occasions or misunderstandings but these did not mar the overall sentiments.

So I now sit in bed and ponder about what’s ahead in the day for me. Work. What’s that?

Grabbing my iPad and having my laptop as well, I needed to catch up with my games! The last four days, farm animals, candies and zoo animals were totally ignored.

I guess I have to balance my virtual work and real work.

One Step Ahead Again

3 Jul

I think I am experiencing candy withdrawal again! Ever since I completed Wafer Windmill on the laptop and I cannot ask for tickets to go on, I noticed a monster in me has surfaced. On top of feeling irritable, I am also feeling somewhat lost, as if I don’t know what to do! I am usually not like this.

Every morning I open the laptop with hopes that I can click on the ticket platform for help, nothing happens. Aargh… frustration.

And to add salt to the wound (my anguish), Rancid has upped his ante and at his best in Farm Heroes to aggravate me at Level 367. He stumped me at Level 352 and I had to utilize the farm equipments (the plus one, the digger, tractor and farm dog) to beat him. But now, even with farm equipments to aid me, it is not happening, aargh… more frustration!

And this morning, Candy Crush finally updated for the iPad. Triple dose of salt to my woes, this update is of no use to me because all it does is just have my avatar, sitting at 590 previously to leap-frog to Level 605, the end of the chapter! Lately I am always one step ahead in the game before the updates and any updates has rendered my progress useless as I am unable to crush any candies to move forth.

So, the anguish and frustration remains. Aargh…

Why Am I Still At It?

27 Jun
I can't send SOS for tickets

I can’t send SOS for tickets!

Level 578 in Candy Crush has been very trying and bordered on being a dreaded task to go through. So why am I still at it? I don’t know, I ask myself that too, constantly. Sometimes my obsession with this game is just… just so obsessive.

Despite the constant frustration, I persisted to battle the ridiculous (for lack of a better word) level of 578. Then amazingly, when I least expected it, I conquered the level. Yay! On a roll, I completed the Wafer Windmill yesterday. I am now just waiting for the new chapter to open up in Facebook, which I don’t understand why I cannot send out help to ask for tickets, when the next chapter is clearly visible on the map. Something is not right. Hmm… I guess I have to be patient.

The recent update makes no difference to me as it opened up only more levels for Dreamworld which I have stopped playing. And all this time, while attempting Level 578 and beyond, I was limited to using the laptop at home because the iPad is still showing me at Gummy Gardens, the previous chapter. So it’s an achievement of sorts given the restricted playing time that I have.
