Stuck Again

6 Oct

I am at the tail end of my book project so there has been time to use my iPad. But I find the iPad so slow after the update to OS9! Even with the patch 9.02, it doesn’t help. Sigh…

On the game front, things are slow figuratively and literally. I am on a tag team mode to play because rescuing honey bears over bottle caps is not as easy as I thought. So upon finishing the five lives on the laptop, I move on to work on the farm and the other candy game before almost reluctantly reaching over for the iPad when all lives are used up.

For the record, I am stuck at Level 495 for Soda, stuck at Level 800 for Farm Heroes and stuck at Level 1198 for Saga. On a brighter note, I was crowned Miso Master for Snack Shack, the previous episode in Candy Crush.

A consolation, Miso Master

Eh? Different Again!

1 Oct

I have been very busy the past few days working on the design of a cookbook. So much so, I’ve actually neglected my virtual games. There just isn’t time in the office to sneak in a game even for a breather because my deadline is very tight.

And the past few evenings when I get home, I would use the laptop only to read the news to unwind than to play any games. By bedtime, I am so brain-drained, there isn’t any energy left to strategize moves for candies or farm fruits.

On Tuesday night, routine kicked in but news have been so unappealing, I played my games. And this was when I discovered yet another difference!

King.com has been very careless or perhaps sneaky to have different board setups for Candy Crush (Level 1180) and now, Candy Crush Soda too. Level 495 has different challenges for the iPad and in Facebook on the laptop. I really don’t know why but I feel saving 17 honey bears is an easier task than collecting 4 bottle caps. Let’s see how long I need to pass this level.

Honey bears or…

Bottle caps? You decide!

Same But Different

25 Sep

I didn’t know Level 1180 of Candy Crush is different on the iPad and in Facebook on the laptop! When I arrived at this level on my iPad, I thought, “Darn! Another tough level!”

The next day I didn’t use my iPad. Instead I went straight to the laptop and was presented with a different board setup and challenge.

“Hey, it’s not like this on the iPad!”

At first I thought I was at a wrong level but it couldn’t be, I just completed 1179 the night before and am pretty sure I am at 1180.

With the much easier challenge, I moved on in just one attempt. Checking the same level again on the iPad, sure enough, both devices have different board setups for the same level. So if you want to take easy route, play in Facebook instead of your iPad.

Not a Worthy Update

22 Sep

There’s no life in my iPad

Apple recently released iOS9 and I for one, don’t usually update my devices immediately. I would wait a couple of months, read some reviews before I make any decision to update.

Now this time, I don’t know why I decided to update my iPad Mini. Oh boy. Upsets the hell out of me!

Both my iPhone5S and iPad Mini are still on iOS7.12, foregoing the last release iOS8 and I was happy with things the way they were. So again I must say I really don’t know what got the better of me and updated the iPad Mini.

It left me annoyed, upset and frustrated because my iPad crashed, died and was rendered useless, if only for a few hours. Yes, I was lost without my games. Somewhere along the download, either the connection line dropped or the jump from iOS7.12 to iOS9 was not stable, it caused the update to be disrupted. My iPad initially looked fine but it was not.

It jumped between its state of being turned on to the Apple icon and the download bar but the bar was frozen; it did not move. Unstable in other words. Initially, I could still play my games, read some news but when the switches occurred again, I thought if I did a complete shut down and switched it back on again, maybe things would right itself .

Hah. That was where I got it wrong. I could not even turn it on, reset, continue to update or restore. Uh oh… What have I done?

So I fixed it in the office thinking the home connection could be the culprit. To cut the technicalities, I managed to revive my iPad but at a price. Lost everything on it but thank goodness, the photos and whatever notes I had on it were not that critical, so I can live with this. The most annoying was the hassle of putting back my games and music. And Mail setup was the most tedious and now, after all that hassle, I find the iPad laggy. It’s so slow!!! Aaargh… so annoying when the candies drop in almost a slow motion.

Hrmph… looks like I won’t be updating my phone just yet and will definitely let things be for now. No more unnecessary updates if I can help it!

The Laptop’s Back

20 Aug

I collected my laptop last night. With the change of the topcase to fix the ON/OFF problem, my MacBook Air now is semi-new. New on the surface but on the inside, I am still faced with having only 3 odd gig of space in the 120GB unit. I seriously don’t know what I have in it to take up so much space.

A quick check on its storage shows that I have 60GB of OTHER in my MacBook Air. What the heck is OTHER? I have to figure it out.

Anyway, the Candy Crush chapter, Raspberry Races opened for the iPad at the same time when the laptop came back, so there’s no real need to use the laptop, maybe except to collect my daily beans for Farm Heroes. But then again, it’s nice to have it back.

Feeling Incomplete

13 Aug

Although I hardly use my laptop for work, I feel incomplete. Every morning when I have my coffee, I would launch my laptop to read the news, go into Farm Heroes especially to collect my daily awarded beans (something I can’t do on the iPad) and play Level 1101 of Candy Crush because the game has yet to update for the iPad. Now I can’t do any of these because my laptop is not back yet.

A friend sympathized with me and reasoned that if my laptop went in to be resurrected, it should just take three days. I am not convinced. It definitely isn’t a situation of biblical proportions; furthermore, it went in on a Sunday and not a Friday, you know what I mean?

Thank goodness Candy Crush Soda updated for the iPad by Tuesday night, so I had my candy fix back. But still, I feel agitated and incomplete. By Wednesday night, Candy Crush finally updated for the iPad but I have been stuck at Level 1101 for sometime now, feeling incomplete suddenly becomes inept! I can play yet I can’t play. Aargh…

Anyway, Apple did not call on Wednesday but emailed a quotation over for the repair cost. I almost fell off my chair! It will cost a third of a brand new MacBook Air if I went ahead with the repair. This is the first time one of my Apple devices is causing so much grieve.

Now, on top of feeling incomplete (and inept) I am upset too. Hrmph.

Be Sad and Eat Oats

10 Aug

Sunday morning my laptop died. It can’t turn on. My MacBook Air. Gone. Kaput. I was not in the least upset but more worried that I could not play my games! Aargh…

Hubby declared, “Do not touch my laptop!” killing off any hopes of using his device to play my games.

Oh dear. What should I do?

We googled up tips and tried everything possible to resuscitate my laptop but to no avail. The laptop just cannot turn on after I shut it down the night before (instead of putting it to sleep).

So after lunch, we went to the mall and sent it in to Apple for service and was advised to leave it for two days. Two days without my laptop. How to progress for my Candy Crush and Candy Crush Soda? The two games that I now have no choice but to play on the laptop because there’s no updates yet for my iPad.

I felt miserable thinking about my options. And wanted to buy something, anything to drown my sadness.

Walking pass every shop and retailer, I itched to buy the travel bag, eat gelato, buy a Thermos flask (I already have two) and drink Starbucks or a juice, an impulse reaction at being a loss.

When we walked into the pharmacy, M2 pointed to the oats on the shelf and suggested I “be sad and eat oats”. Cheeky girl, goading me on.

Boo hoo hoo…

I hope the laptop will be fine.

We ended up eating a choc vanilla waffle and drank a Starbucks frappuccino.

Not in Synch

7 Aug

I stopped playing Candy Crush Soda for a few days because there has been no updates. But last night, I could not resist and peeked into the game in Facebook on the laptop. What do you know? I moved. Yay… so I played on and managed to progress to Level 452.

However, on the iPad, despite achieving a star for Level 451, the icon is grey and while my avatar is sitting at Level 452, its icon is also grey. Something is not right. Obviously grey means I can’t play on the iPad. Hrmph.

It looks like the game is not in synch for different devices when clearly I have progressed in one device (laptop) but it’s not showing in the other (iPad).

King.com had better fix this.

As for Candy Crush, Bubblegum Hut finally opened for the iPad and I leapfrogged to the end of the chapter. And just as I predicted, I cannot play because I have actually gone on to the next chapter. Sigh…

On the iPad, 451 & 452 are grey

in Facebook, 451 & 452 are colored!

Not Fun Anymore

3 Aug

It certainly is not fun anymore when I find myself still stuck at Level 776 of Farm Heroes and caught in a time freeze at Level 1085 of Cloudberry Creek in Candy Crush on my iPad. I have actually gone passed the next chapter, Bubblegum Hut and started the subsequent chapter Pastry Palace (Level 1101) in Facebook on the laptop.

I suspect even with an update, usually one chapter at a time, I may not be able to play on my iPad because I am two chapters ahead of Cloudberry! Too fast for my own good.

To add to the aggravation, I can’t go forth beyond Level 450 for Candy Crush Soda on both my iPad and laptop.

Hrmph. Better to go back to reading Genghis Khan.

Oh No! Stuck Again

28 Jul

For the first time, my progress for my two games, Candy Crush and Candy Crush Soda, have been halted on the iPad. I have reached the end of both games and no further chapters have appeared yet.

So I play Candy Crush on the laptop in Facebook (at Level 1082 now). As for Soda in Facebook on the laptop, the game appears to stop at Level 435 but I discovered otherwise. The new chapter automatically opened up the minute I completed the level. Phew.

Nonetheless, what do I do if faced with such a moment?

I play Hexa Blast Monster Busters! Only because I can’t get pass Level 776 for my Farm Heroes and I’ve lost the will to battle being a zookeeper if I don’t fancy rescuing Honey Bears or gobbling up candies.
