Done for the Day

6 Nov

It’s not even ten and all of us are calling it a day. No bonding session tonight and the second bottle of whiskey is still around. Amazing…

Pooped from the early wake up this morning, add in the golf game plus a two hour or so of frolicking in the cold pool and coming out pruned, we are done for day two.

Day 3 will start equally early and the game will be at Kirimaya itself. Let’s hope a good night’s sleep will restore our energy for tomorrow!

Day Two Continues

6 Nov

Done with our game by 12.45pm, everyone agreed that the golf course was very pretty.

We opted to all go back to the resort and jump into the pool.

Ahh… bliss.

After the complimentary high tea, half the group jumped into the cold water to be refreshed. It was nice.

But after a while, we were pruned to the core. So plans changed again. A quick shower and another bonding session with whiskey and snacks before dinner.

Dinner plans were changed from Khao Yai Kitchen to Chokchai Steakhouse.

Day Two Activities

6 Nov

Wake up call was ridiculously early! My roomie woke up even before the call came through. Packed and changed for today’s golf game at Rancho Charnvee, we trotted through the resort to breakfast.

The Kirimaya Clubhouse is also another laid back atmosphere. overlooking the driving range. Breakfast was typical with my eggs and bacon. Everyone ate their fill in preparation for the morning game.

Soon the vans came and by 7.30am we were on our way.

Candy Crush on Hold

5 Nov

Candy Crush finally updated its app for the iPad (last Friday) but see I told you, I passed the chapter and it’s no use for me, I still have to wait for the next update.

It is indeed one chapter at a time and I am way ahead at the next chapter at level 466. Sigh.

Well, I am going to put it on hold for the next few days as things need to be prioritize, I have some serious golf games and fun ahead to be enjoyed.

Here I Go Again

5 Nov

The phone call came close to two months ago. I was in the midst of a discussion with my team of designers when the invite was thrown at me if I’d like to join for an upcoming golfing trip. Ooh… It was so tempting. The discussion had to be halted and a quick decision had to be made.

Right after the quick decision and some back and forth, the number 54 was somehow stuck in my head when I outlined the itinerary on TripIt to share with the whole group. This was the number of days until the trip.

Fast forward to today. Where did 54 days go?

So here I am sitting in the Premier Lounge with partial of the group (there’s 11 of us) laughing and carefree, enjoying the benefits of the lounge at KLIA before boarding. The group is not new in friendship as mentioned before but new for me in traveling together with them. My previous overseas golf excursions has always included hubby and just another couple. This time, the numbers are bigger.

There’s 3 couples and 5 ladies, myself included. At the eleventh hour, the 12th person pulled out due of work commitment that was unavoidable. It was too late to get a replacement and our golf tour coordinator, cuegolf.com, was very efficient and professional to readjust things for us.

So Thailand, here we come!

Pre-vacation Get Together

4 Nov

It’s been awhile traveling abroad with friends. My last few travels have been with—let’s see—hubby (Singapore), hubby and sibling (Paris), hubby again (local golf escapade) and hubby & office staff (Bali).

I have various travel groups for different travel categories: ‘all-girls trips’ are with friends since childhood whom I grew up together with; ‘couples trips’ are with married couple friends (sans children) and so on.

Now I have never traveled afar with this group of friends. Not new in the friendship but new in traveling together. As such, it was only the right thing to do to have dinner together to get to know them beyond the usual social golf meets.

Two weeks ago, hubby and I dined with the group whom I will be traveling with for my next destination. While hubby is not going for that trip, he joined us for dinner. Despite the handful who could not make it that night, it was good camaderie as we bonded over dinner, wine, whiskey and homemade cheese cake. I am sure when the group is whole, it will be even more merry-making and one blast of a trip!

Definitely looking forward to it tomorrow…

We Don’t Like Shopping

24 Sep

Unlike other female species, I am considered an unusual one for I don’t like shopping. Put me in a mall for three hours or more, browsing through things or whatever, I find it quite an ordeal. Breathing becomes difficult as I always argue it is the lack of oxygen with so many people inside the enclosed building that causes this discomfort. And walking becomes taxing when the lack of oxygen kicks in, causing pain in the joints and legs.

Really strange coming from someone who can traverse almost halfway around the globe and walk 8km throughout the city of Paris or about 6km to 8km on a golf course anytime!

So when it comes to shopping, thankfully, my girls are like me and share the same sentiments on the breathing and walking issues. We hardly go shopping and will only do so if necessary.

The Addiction Continues

29 Aug

Last Saturday morning, I woke up early for my golf game, planned ages ago. And in my morning ritual, the iPad Mini is always whipped out to check mail, update FB status and play a few of my usual games. To my dismay, I discovered Candy Crush has an update (to Level 410)! Oh dear. I am still stuck at 394 and the much awaited update finally came.

But I can only update after I return from the golf course. Sigh. I guess I am still suckered in to continue and just cannot pull away from this candy addiction.

After the golf game where Candy Crush was also among the topics yakked by the other lady golfers during lunch, I was given some sound advice on how to tackle that frustrating level. Armed with a new determination, I went home and got down to business. I should thank my advisor and my lucky stars for I finally crossed that dastardly level! It’s always the same pattern: just when you want to give up, they allow you to cross and get suckered in to continue the game.

For the record, I have reached the end of this new update and there’s only two possibilities: I will most likely overcome the last level and wait for the update or be frustrated by it and bid my time to overcome it. Either scenario will have me contemplating (again) whether to move forth on the computer or just wait until another new update comes around for the iPad.

Sucker indeed.

The Good Host Continues

21 Aug

The good host role continues! Today hubby and I went to the mall after work to buy some gifts for M3 who will leave us tomorrow. It is only befitting to return her gesture with things that will remind her of her visit and short stay with us.

But the short time at the mall wasn’t a pleasant experience. I had foot cramps! Omg! How could this be? Me, a golfer and world traveler who could walk 8km in Paris recently but not even two thousand steps in the mall! Useless, I chastised myself.

Soon the purchases were completed and we fought our way through rush hour to bring all three ‘M’s out for dinner.

Tonight we will go for a steamboat dinner as last night, dinner was at home and the previous night, at a Nyonya restaurant. All in all I think M3 is experiencing equally interesting delicacies other than the more famous nasi lemak, roti canai, char kueh teow and banana leaf rice.

Cow’s Burp

11 Jul

A few years back when M2 discovered the joy of writing little notes and messages, she wrote a lot and scattered them here and there for me to discover. One day, I found a note listing down all my favorite things. Aww… How sweet.

Scanning the list, my heart swelled, “Golf, iPad, Travel, Wine…” she knows her mummy well. Then, “Cow’s Burp!”

Intrigued, I asked her what that was and she went, “Cow’s Burp? Oh, that is what you and daddy drink when you go out!”

“Ahh… You mean Carlsberg!” I said, totally tickled.

“Uh-huh, Cow’s Burp. Isn’t that how it is spelt?” she looked at me with eyebrows raised.

Err… not quite but close, Cow’s Burp, Carlsberg. Chortle!
