Food! We Need Food!

6 Dec

Tired and hungry from the morning tour, we ventured into Somtam Papaya Salad Restaurant for a late lunch. Yum…

After a satisfying lunch, we hit the malls again for some indoor activity (shopping). Later this evening, we look forward to be entertained by a Thai traditional show, followed by dinner before being enthralled by Calypso, the lady boy cabaret show!

Temple Run, Part 2

6 Dec

Mrs Nattaya (who helpfully told us her name sounds like Pattaya), our guide for the half day city tour was very chatty but we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. We learnt that the name Bangkok holds the record for the longest name for a city and it’s listed in the Guinness Book World of Records! Go Google it up.

After ooh-ing and aah-ing at the golden Buddha statue in Wat Traimit, we moseyed along with traffic into Chinatown. Next stop, Wat Pho.

Wat Pho sits on 17 acres of land with lots to see. The Sleeping Buddha, at 46 meters long and 15 meters high is not the longest but the 3rd longest, can you believe it?! The sheer size of it is pretty jaw dropping. Along with 99 pagodas within the compound, I would say it was a very enriching outing.

Weather has been good again today. We head off to take in the various places of interest next.

The half day tour is done and we are all tired out from it. Heading back to the hotel, we are already planning what to eat before we continue with activities for the second half of the day.

Temple Run

6 Dec

Although we come to Bangkok on a yearly basis, we hardly do the tourist thing because we always come to play golf. So this time, with the girls, it is different. Because we arrived on the day the King celebrated his birthday, the country is proud of the occasion and therefore, we had a very good deal on a city tour. So later after breakfast, we will be visiting several temples, the famed Wat Pho, Wat Traimit and others.

Another enriching experience ahead!

So We Walked

5 Dec

A few splashes of water on the face to freshen up, we were ready to explore! Then a quick short stop at our favorite noodle shop next to the hotel, we fueled up before crossing over to Siam Paragon.

The girls were in heaven. The shopping totally opened their eyes. Hubby insisted that they should buy something instead of just touching and putting back, a habit we often instilled in them back home.

We walked until we couldn’t walk and this was just slightly over three hours only. We decided we had to eat, so we went to look for food. All in all, day one has been good – at our pace, not rushed and exciting because of so many sights and smell.

Contented, we debated whether to explore some more or head back to rest because tomorrow, it will be a day filled with lots to see, do and eat.

At a Leisurely Pace

5 Dec

We arrived safely in Suvarnabhumi and it was smooth clearance all the way, immigrations and baggage arrival. Even traffic was good. What would normally take 45 mins to get to Novotel Siam Square took us only half an hour.

It is the King’s birthday today, so maybe that’s why things are smooth sailing. Bless the King. Weather is excellent and after settling into our junior suite, we are ready to explore!

Where’s the Screen?

5 Dec

We took off from KLIA twenty minutes behind schedule. It was a full flight. As always, the girls would sit in the same side with me and hubby in the next row, away from us.

The aircraft was obviously an old one when we buckled up.

“Where’s the screen?” M2 asked.

There was no little screen in front of our seats; no entertainment then. Boo hoo…

Oh well, it’s not a long flight. Soon we will be in Bangkok and that is more important than entertainment on board.

Sadly, service was not up to standard. It was very rushed and disorganized. Thankfully time flew by pretty fast and I could feel the cabin pressure change. We are descending into Bangkok! Yay…

I Love Bangkok

5 Dec

I love Thailand and Bangkok, this is a fact. This year alone, I’ve visited Thailand thrice, covering Chiangmai, Krabi and now Bangkok with the girls; the girls’ first time to this wonderful city after Krabi in October recently.

We enjoy Bangkok very much for its food, golf courses and shopping. And I’ve always wanted to share my experiences with the girls so that they can understand what the country is all about and see the reason why mommy and daddy visits every year. Bangkok’s offering in colors, tastes and sights are just so enriching and amazing, I just hope the girls will enjoy and appreciate it as much as we do.

We are at KLIA now, waiting for our 12.25pm departure.

Oops! I Did It Again

15 Nov

Back from my back-to-back travels, it’s so nice to be home. Done with the customary hugs and kisses, I got back to my candy crushing ways. And what a welcome! I managed to finish the Sugary Shire chapter, completing Level 470 and awaiting tickets as I pen this. I guess I have not lost my candy crushing skills despite being away from the game for nearly two weeks.

King.com has just been so slow. Their last update on the iPad to the Butterscotch Boulders chapter (Level 455) was pointless for me because I had progressed along on the laptop to the subsequent chapter, Sugary Shire. And if they do update for the iPad, it will still be pointless for me again as I have finished this chapter.

So yea… I did it again, beating the game developer on the iPad. At this point in time, the game on Facebook ends at Level 500. It may or may not have more chapters, we shall see. But I think once I reach that level, I will officially retire from the game, whether the updates on the iPad come along or not. Will life be the same again? Hmm…

Back-to-back

11 Nov

Having barely recovered from my hectic Bangkok trip, I unpacked yesterday and packed again for Singapore! Yes, a vacation to recover from the earlier vacation, or is it, being back-to-back?

This time, the trip will be less hectic and I can’t wait to arrive at the hotel and just lounge by the poolside with a cold beer or margarita in hand.
