Giving Up?

2 Apr

Level 867 of Candy Crush has frustrated me to no end that I am contemplating, yet again, to give up on the game. I just cannot figure it out! But luckily the other two games, Candy Crush Soda and Farm Heroes has provided some solace.

Also I found another comfort – Codewords, a game that I hardly write about. I was at the bookstore not to long ago and found the magazine version of the game. It’s an app that I already have on my phone but now with a printed version, making it definitely easier on the eyes, this is another good game to keep the mind busy.

The Joy of Driving, Part 2

27 Mar

It was a Saturday morning and we decided to walk into the BMW showroom to visit our friend who works there. The minute he saw us, he came over eagerly, I think happy to see us more than hoping to make a sale. The sporty looking Z4 caught our eyes. We looked at each other and in our mind, thinking alike, why not?

So we asked if we could take it out for a spin. He obliged but on condition that he has to sit next to the driver for legal issues. What this means is that both of us cannot be in the same car for it is a two-seater.

We both took turns at the BMW Z4. Put it this way, I have never felt such an adrenalin rush driving a car before. And never had I worked up such a sweat before driving. Then again, I have never gotten behind a real sports car and never had I stepped on it until it reached 240km per hour!

Phew.

A Fat Mermaid

26 Mar

Last night I had my gym session with just my trainer and it felt strange. No hubby (he had a dinner meeting) and the girls around unlike the week before where it was the final gym session for M1 with my trainer. It was fun because M2 came along and we sweated together for the last time. I thought it was a necessary session (remember my weighing scale?) especially to rid all that guilt (and fat) from the constant eating during the last week before M1 flew off.

My trainer gave us a tough time and everyone gasped for breath. But that wasn’t all. While doing stretching on the floor, M2 commented that I looked like a manatee. The gall of her! Giving her mommy a tough time too.

My trainer perked up and asked politely, a what?

Unabashed, she reiterated the manatee mention and fueled it further with a fat mermaid description, and that I looked like both. Eeesh. But all in good fun, we had a great laugh, gasping for breath all over again. M2 was on a roll with her acid jokes.

Right after that, she also mentioned that a fat unicorn is actually a rhino in disguise. Geez… The things they learn from the internet.

Well, fat mermaid and fat rhino aside, I really have to sweat it out and was glad we had that session together last week. Another memory etching moment to cherish.

A Breather

17 Mar

In between the eating and last minute things to do or buy for M1, I still have a breather now and then with my virtual games.

For Candy Crush, I have completed Gummy Galaxy, the last chapter available on the iPad and after being stuck at Level 861 of Truffle Terrace on the laptop, I finally crossed it yesterday morning.

As for Candy Crush Soda, I have progressed well to Level 261 and Farm Heroes at Level 713. Even my  Zookeeper Battle, I have battled more than 7,000 battles! These games are not a waste of time but are good distractions from having to worry too much for her impending departure.

Chasing Time

5 Mar

Every weekend some activity is lined up with the girls. We kept the fun family outings to weekends because we wanted to also include M2 who has school during the weekdays. We must not forget we have two girls and only one is going off to university while the other is still going to high school.

Last weekend, we decided to visit Menara KL and have lunch at Atmosphere 360, the revolving restaurant in the tower at 282m high. We opted for the later lunch session of 1.30pm to 3.00pm instead of earlier 11.30am to 1.00pm, otherwise we would have to do high tea or dinner.

The buffet spread was good I must admit and the view quite breathtaking. And the one and a half hour session was just about right for the restaurant to revolve one complete round to see the overall skyline of the city.

We have two more weekends left…

A Very Good Day!

3 Mar

I must admit in between the precious moments with M1 before she leaves, I have been at my games as well. I have made much progress for Candy Crush, Farm Heroes and Candy Crush Soda, at Level 844, Level 701 and Level 223 respectively.

I was stuck at both the candy games for sometime but today proved to be a good day; I finally succeeded for Candy Crush and waiting for tickets now to move on to the next chapter and also for Candy Crush Soda, at Level 225 now.

But the day got even better as we went to school to get M1’s SPM results, released today after the three month wait. I am one proud mama to say that she scored straight ‘A’s for the ten subjects she took! It was tears of joy as I hugged my baby.

A very good and happy day.

What! No Wifi?!

23 Feb

The few days we were back in hubby’s hometown was good and tough. Good because we got a chance to see all the elders and hubby’s cousins with their young families, enjoy his aunty’s mouth watering home cooked food and basically have a good time away from the office. The children also had the opportunity to bond with their cousins too.

The tough part was having almost no wifi, hence no connectivity. All of us had our devices but only two phones had data plan, so we were forced to practice limited usage and just learn to live life without internet. It was indeed tough.

Luckily my games could be played offline and I progressed on to Level 829 for Candy Crush, Level 678 for Farm Heroes and Level 208 for Candy Crush Soda during my time there. Otherwise, I think I would rake up my data plan bill!

Thank goodness we are back home (by Saturday) and connected (to the internet) again.

Fruitful Weekend

16 Feb

I feel as though I should give myself a pat on the shoulder for accomplishing quite a bit over the weekend. It wasn’t the big battle with the Chinese New Year crowd that I thought I’d have to do but my games!

The pat on the shoulder was for me finally crossing Level 185 of Candy Crush Soda, which was so difficult and also Level 821 of Candy Crush, which was even more difficult. I have been stuck at these two for sometime and perseverance finally paid off.

Honestly, I also managed to complete my Chinese New Year purchases without stressing too much. The secret? Online shopping! The bulk of the necessary was made easy with Tesco’s online services. With free delivery for this festive occasion, I totally took advantage of it and saved the hassle of going to the mall and fight with the last minute shoppers.

I am ready to usher in the Year of the Goat come Thursday.

If I Had Known Earlier

9 Feb

I couldn’t stand the fact that I have progressed for Candy Crush but not Farm Heroes. It was most annoying. So I decided to google up on some cheats (farmheroescheats.com) to pass Level 653.

The strategy was to work on the bottom level so that the top cascades down to open up the clams without wasting any moves. I tried this tactic and after several tries, I finally succeeded! Yay.

If I had known earlier, I should have done this a long time ago instead of allowing this aggravation to last this long.

Maybe I should do the same (look up some cheats) with Candy Crush Soda for Level 185? Hmm…

Not Stuck on You

5 Feb

Candy Crush has been relatively easy. I completed Caramel Clearing rather quickly, the chapter after Fudge Fjord and have gone on to the next one, Candy Calaboose.

However, the same (ease) cannot be said for the other two games. I have been stucked at Level 653 for my Farm Heroes and Level 185 for Candy Crush Soda for a while now. Hopefully I can make some progress before the Lunar New Year comes around.
