All Planned Out

24 Nov

The year end school holiday has started and M2 is left to her own devices. This is the first year she will be alone as you know, M1 is at university.

And she has it all planned out. This morning, we saw a checklist of movies and shows to watch, sitting on the sofa.

36. That’s how many she will be watching. I guess I don’t have to scratch my head trying to figure out what activities for her to keep her busy.

Can’t Have It All

23 Nov

Kuching was enjoyable but one can’t have it all nice and comfy. On Day 1, we had rain and soggy conditions on the fairways when we played at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS); on Day 2, we had lovely cloudy conditions at Damai Golf and Country Club and beautiful seaside surrounding to bask in and on the last day, it was scorching hot at Samarahan Country Club. And during the trip, we have to wake up at the usual 5.00am every morning; in fact on the day when we departed, I had only two hours of sleep while some of the others did not even sleep!

All three days, the hosts from all the three clubs were amazing. They took care of all of us and made the golf outings most enjoyable. Each of the courses had their own challenges and we also had the weather factor. The camaraderie was good and the golf fun.

Amazingly, I came back a nett winner on the first day. Our host was most gracious to give prizes to both clubs, for men and women categories – gross and nett best players. I seem to do well when I am in KGS as this is my second win on my second visit. But the same can’t be said for my game on day two and three. Put it this way, with three different weather conditions, I played as varied as the weather.

Food wise, I ate so much, I could feel my waistline expanding and true enough when I got home last night, it was a horrible moment standing on the scale. Super sigh. When you think you cannot eat anymore, something nice is served up and it’s not nice to decline.

Well, it’s back to reality. Can’t have it all.

It Rained

20 Nov

We touchdown on time despite departing half an hour late and made our way to Kelab Golf Sarawak. Our entourage was early and lunch has yet to be served.

So we took our time to unload, settle in and rested before lunch was finally served. After that, we waited for our hosts to arrive before a slight drizzle came down. Haish… All the way here to escape the rain back home only to be greeted by more rain here. Not promising.

Finally, we managed to play some good golf. But as we were about to complete the 9th hole, the siren went off. Oh no…

For everyone’s safety, all buggies returned to the Clubhouse. Within a short time, the skies opened up and it rained heavily but only for a short while, making the already long day stretch even longer.

After the quick downpour, the sky cleared for golf to be resumed. But the grounds were soggy, the balls could not run, often plugged and my Skechers were wet. Plus it was getting dark. By the time we completed 18 holes, it was close to 6.30pm. What a long tiring day.

On the bright side of the situation, I walked 21,412 steps, burnt 652 calories and several grams of fat! This is according to my MiFit band.

I am so tired now and better get some sleep because wake-up call tomorrow is 5.00am. Groan…

Hopefully no rain to disrupt the timing and let us have an enjoyable time.

My Goodness!

20 Nov

The last time I traveled at an ungodly hour was when I was flying off to Paris with hubby and my older sibling. They were going for a meeting and I was going to see Mona Lisa. It was 2013. Since then, we’ve avoided such horrid timing where we have to leave for the airport in the wee hours of the morning.

Even my golf trips with my regular group is not at such an inconvenient hour. It is because this time, I am going with the Club to Kuching, East Malaysia and the whole group is taking a chartered bus from the Club to KLIA2. Such an ungodly hour has to be adhered to. Sigh.

What to do? I really don’t want to take a cab by myself at 4.00am in the morning to the airport, nor do I want to make hubby send me to the airport. But he’s nice enough to send me to the Club by 2.30am to hop on the bus, scheduled to depart at 3.00am, I cannot complain.

The group is scheduled to fly by 7.10am for three Interclub games. It will be a tiring but interesting weekend.

Such a Pro

12 Nov

I must say I am such a pro when it comes to Candy Crush. I have progressed very well in the game, reaching Level 1266 two days ago. I sit at Level 1269 now. M2 shakes her head and roles her eyes every time I update her on where I am.

The last several chapters, I have been crowned champion. From a Crazy Cobbler, Miso Master to Cosmic Commander and more, I hold these trophies high.

And at the last chapter, Bonbon Bistro, another feather in the cap!

Never Play Offline

26 Oct

It was Friday and we were on our way home. The rain came down heavily and I was tired, having used quite a fair bit of my creative brain cells in the office. Hubby was driving so I whipped out my iPad for my usual dosage of my games during the unusual hour long journey home. Can’t live without them, you know… the games, not the traffic. I must admit I did play some virtual games in the office whilst being stumped for ideas.

Usually all the King.com games can be played offline so routinely, I did my usual three. Then I moved on to Monster Busters. Now this game cannot be played offline. It would prompt you to go on as guest because there’s no connection but I didn’t try. So I exited and left it as is, without further thoughts to it.

That evening, after a hearty dinner, it was time to unwind. I reached for my trusty iPad and launched Monster Busters.

To my horror, when the game launched, I was at Level 1! Oh my gawd. What happened?! I should be at Stage 595 but, no, I was right at the beginning. I freaked out a bit. Closed the app and relaunched. Same thing!

When I told M2, she asked if I was logged in to Facebook which I was not; this happened when I tried playing the game offline earlier in the car. Thank goodness after connecting to FB, I catapulted back up to Stage 595.

Phew and double phew! Moral of the story here, never try to play offline when they tell you so.

Hooray!

23 Oct

Today the hazy condition improved slightly and schools finally reopened. So M2 is back in school. Miraculously, strong winds did come and blew the haze up north. Hooray for us. But alas! The people in the northern region are now suffering the fate that befell us a few days ago and schools there are closed.

Well hazy or not, my virtual games progressed well. I have finally moved from the super tough Level 804 in Farm Heroes and super duper tough Level 512 in Candy Crush Soda. As for Candy Crush, hooray to say I am crowned champ yet again earlier this week!

Not a Miso or Mushroom Master but a Cosmic Commander of Marmalade Moon. And this morning, to my pleasant surprise, upon my completion of the chapter, Wonky Wonderland, I found myself crowned ‘Pastry Paladin’ for it.

Maybe that was what happened… as I became Cosmic Commander, I commanded a gale of cosmic proportions to blow the haze away while I crushed my way to become a Pastry Paladin. Lame… I know, but I couldn’t help it. Hooray nonetheless…

Ho Hum

16 Oct

I know it’s boring stuff but for the record, Moving Day yielded much progress for my virtual games. I am now at Level 805 for Farm Heroes, Level 512 for Candy Crush Soda, Level 1220 for Candy Crush and Level 595 for Monster Blasters Hexa Blast. With the weekend coming, maybe current positions will change. We shall see…

Back to Back

12 Oct

Just when I thought I couldn’t top my Miso Master effort for my Candy Crush effort in Snack Shack, I am now Mushroom Master for Fungi Forest! Back to back trophies. Yay.

My virtual games have been progressing well. I am sitting at Level 505 for Candy Crush Soda, Level 804 for Farm Heroes and Level 1210 for Candy Crush.

Even my occasional dabble in Monster Blasters Hexa Blast, I am sitting pretty good, at Stage 578.

This week I expect further progress in all games. In other words, work in the office has slowed somewhat until the next project starts.

Never Judge

8 Oct

I thought rescuing honey bears would be easier than getting four bottle caps so I have been avoiding Level 495 on my iPad. Because the level is different on the iPad and the laptop, I am limited to just playing on the laptop in the morning before I go to work and in the evening when I get home.

How wrong I have been! When my project finally closed and I took a breather, I thought why not try Level 495 on the iPad. And guess what? After just one attempt, I am through! So never judge the difficulty of the challenge presented.
