Just when I thought I had them small, this DIY kit that I recently purchased tops them all!
Every month offers from my favorite online shopping site to coincide with the double digits date and month, i.e., 8/8 or 9/9, are very enticing. So naturally, I bought this DIY kit on the 9/9 sale stretch.
Although it is super minuscule, it will most likely be the next one to work on after I complete DIY project #31. Let’s see if I can take the challenge!
During the pandemic, when we were under lockdown, I learned new recipes to cook our meals to pass the time. I also accumulated a lot of spices to experiment with. When there were no more lockdowns after the pandemic, I cooked less as we went out more often to eat.
Recently, I decided to make Tandoori Chicken with the spices in my pantry instead of using a Tandoori ready-mix. I have most of the ingredients required, and it was effortless, but I did not realize I ran out of chili powder. So, I improvised and ground some dry chili as a replacement.
It did not quite work out, as my effort resulted in a Spiced Chicken instead of a Tandoori Chicken. Taste-wise, it was good, albeit a tad spicy, but the color was off, brown instead of red. It was the chili powder that made all the difference.
Apparently, Kashmiri chili powder is preferred because it gives the red color without the spicy taste. I managed to buy a box online, and I can’t wait to try the recipe again with the correct chili powder!
The latest bag of free rice arrived earlier than expected. I was pleasantly surprised with the speed of the delivery this time. The last two times, it took a much longer time.
A free kilo of rice!
It is not so much of an addiction to playing the game on the online shopping site, yet I am up to bag 13 out of 15 for the game within a short time to get my next bag of free rice. Do you reckon I can complete the task before the end of the month? It’s possible with my dedication to it.
This morning, the first thing I did when I woke up was to water the rice field to ensure the last stalk bloomed. I knew I was getting my third bag of free rice today from the Free Rice game. Sure enough, my one kilo of rice was on the way the minute the 15th stalk was harvested! Whee.
Free bag of rice on the way!
I am now going for my fourth bag of free rice. Within a short period, I have harvested eight bags out of 15 already! With seven more to go, it is towards the end that needs more patience than ever. I can do it.
I am almost at the end of the Free Rice challenge! My third attempt after playing the game for some time now. Initially, after completing the second challenge, I wanted to stop. But at the start of the game, it lures you in and goes by very fast.
Before I knew it, I was raking up bags of rice quickly and halfway into the challenge. It is only towards the end, getting the 15th bag, that takes forever to complete. I should be able to complete the task by tomorrow.
My third bag of free rice coming soon!
Will I continue after this? It may look mundane and feel mindless, but when a kilo of free rice is sent to you, why not?
DIY project number 30 is such a joy to build. Firstly, everything is so big compared to the past few that I have completed. Those were tiny miniatures, and project number 30 is hardly one!
Although there were occasions I stopped working on the project, the pace has been quite good. The main structure is up, and all the furniture pieces are complete. I believe I can wrap it up within a week or so! Whee.
I wanted to build something special for DIY project number 30, a significant milestone. Several weeks ago, my favorite online shopping website had its 6/6 sales, and something caught my eye!
DIY project number 30
As it is, I have eight boxes of miniature piling up in my stash, yet I wanted to purchase another. Hoarder. And so, with a click on the mouse, I bought my latest miniature set to be my DIY project number 30. It didn’t take long to arrive; I’m a happy camper.
There’s no free lunch in this world, but there is free rice! For the past several months, I have been playing this game on Lazada, my local online shopping site, and the game gives out a kilo of free rice upon completing the harvest. Isn’t it wonderful?
The game is called ‘Free Rice’ and is easy to play. Just water the crops daily to harvest 15 bags of rice. That’s it! Nothing fancy, no challenges to test your skills, or anything tough to tackle.
I just completed the task again this morning, and my second bag of rice is on the way, shipped free of charge! Whee.
I am undecided about which set to work on for DIY project number 27 – so many choices, so little time. Recently, I bought another two sets from my favorite online shopping site. It was an impulse purchase, but also for a sense of security.
When I started project number 26, there was this sense that my mountain of miniatures had reduced, so I had to replenish it quickly. Hahaha. Of late, I noticed my DIY purchases are getting smaller and smaller in scale compared to my earlier sets.
Subconsciously, I think I am mindful of my Ikea display cabinet – it is running out of space. I really should buy another cabinet to resolve this issue. Then again, it is fun to work on tiny sets, although it can also be trying at times. I love the challenge, I guess.
So DIY project number 27 is a toss-up between the new tiny purchases over the other sets that are much bigger. And as the two new choices have books, my preferred theme for miniatures these days, I will close my eyes and pick one.
If there’s one thing besides patience I discovered during the pandemic when we were under lockdown, it was online shopping. One can buy just about whatever we fancied at the click of the mouse.
In the last two years, during the lockdowns, my favorite item to buy from my go-to online shopping site was DIY miniature kits. But hubby is different in his purchasing choices. He buys plants!
Although he has bought plants in the past, they are mostly air plants, nothing heavy. These days, he continues to buy plants online instead of from the nursery, even though there are no more lockdowns. The last two purchases were fig plants, which are far heavier than air plants! The most recent one was rather large trees, in my opinion.
So now, we have nine fig trees and growing the fig family. It should be interesting.
