The Scorching Heat

The recent golf game yielded mixed results. The weather did me in, being an afternoon game. The scorching heat affected everyone, not just me. Of late, I have been playing quite a few afternoon games. It’s the company more than the game itself that I realized I’ve come to appreciate.

I had all sorts of disasters to start the game, with water, bunker, and a three-putt! Ugh. It took me a while to settle down before I started playing better. The mini-tournament and company were enjoyable despite the heat. We were all rewarded with a hearty early dinner upon completion.

Is there a need to go back to the drawing board as far as putting is concerned? I think I’m doing okay. Although I did 33 putts this time, it shouldn’t make me want to change the putter. So my Scotty Cameron will still stay in the bag.

Scotty on a Roll, Part 2

My Scotty Cameron putter has been good for me lately. I have had three games where I did only 30 putts. During the last outing, the three-putts were gone because the short game improved. Looking back, it was two putts all the way and six one-putt.

The only thing left now is better course management to eliminate silly shots. Well, one thing at a time. I’m teeing off better now with further distances, putting has improved tremendously, and the short game is a constant fine-tuning department. Nonetheless, everything is falling into place nicely.

So I’m hoping this positive momentum can go on a bit longer. We shall see how I fare with the afternoon game today.

Scotty on a Roll

My putting has improved recently with my Scotty Cameron putter, switching from the TaylorMade Spider Mini. I believe the decision to change the putter grip made all the difference.

I recorded another eight one-putts and 30 putts altogether for my recent game but had two three-putts. It is the second game with the same stats. The three putts occurred when the ball landed in front of the green, and the pin was at the other far end. So for these instances to eliminate the three-putt scenario, the short game has to be sharper.

Separately, I am keeping the replacement driver as it feels better than my old driver. And it shows with the distances gained. With Scotty on a roll here, I am on track to continue to improve with impressive one-putts to reduce the strokes. Yay.

A Special Thirty

I started DIY project number 30 last week. Thirty! That’s how many I have done since the pandemic broke three years ago. The first year, I crafted so many; the second year, lesser; and this third year, I have slowed down so much. Oh well, there is a valid reason for this decline.

During the first year, when we had all those lockdowns and MCO (Movement Control Order), I was speed-building miniatures to pass the time at home. In the second year, when the restrictions were lesser, I was back to playing golf, going out, and traveling, and my hobbies – carving and building miniatures, took a backseat. Hence, not that much craft work to show.

With everything opened and the economy in full swing again this year, I find myself busier than ever and going out more. Staying home is only to avoid the heatwave outside. So spending time on my hobbies is much less this year. Nonetheless, however less it has been, I have arrived at number 30 for my miniatures. What a milestone!

A New Grip Again, Part 2

I like my new Super Stroke Tour 2.0 grip on my Scotty Cameron putter! It felt so good and made putting effortless this morning. Looking at the stats post-game, it was some pretty impressive numbers. It’s been a while since I had such good putting numbers.

Although there were a couple of three-putts because I landed the ball short of the blue flag, I wasn’t too disheartened by this. I made eight one-putts which were very good. It could have been nine, for one lipped out, missing the par.

All in all, 30 putts for today. I’m pleased, and I guess Scotty will be in the bag for the many upcoming games.

A New Grip Again

Last week, I was on a mission to resolve my putting woes because the TaylorMade Spider Mini failed me so badly. So I decided to put my Scotty Cameron putter in the bag. However, it needed a new grip. Now, the Scotty has a spanking new Super Stroke Tour 2.0 grip! Woohoo.

Compared to my other two putters, this new grip is slightly thicker but feels better than the Flat Cat grip I replaced. This week, I have a couple of games lined up. And let’s hope this new grip will help eliminate all those three-putts when I had the TaylorMade Spider Mini in the bag. Keeping my fingers crossed for good putting!

Putting Woes Again

Sometimes when the going is good, it’s too good to be true. How long can this last? I’m talking about putting using my TaylorMade Spider Mini. In the last few games, the three putts kicked in. Sigh.

Yesterday was the height of all the woes. I had five horrible three-putts! Five, how bad is that? So, it’s back to the drawing board and a change in putter to recalibrate.

However, this time, I’m not reverting to my good ol’ light Peanut Putter, but my Scotty Cameron, a heavier putter, to cure my current problems. But I’m contemplating changing the grip on Scotty because I don’t feel the Flat Cat grip. There has been no connection or feel to the overall putter weight; hence, I stopped using the putter for some time. But with the recent Mini woes, any change is welcomed.

Let’s see what my options are with a visit to the golf workshop to change the setup of my Scotty Cameron. Hopefully, the putting woes will be behind me with the new grip and refreshed new putter. Fingers crossed.

Ten Years and Counting

It slipped my mind of another significant celebration because of the recent wedding. As of yesterday, my blog reached its tenth anniversary! Gosh, where did the time go?

It never crossed my mind that when I started this a decade ago, I would go on for so long. It seems that there is so much to write and share. Ten years is a long time. Honestly, it was simply to write and keep memoirs of significant moments in my life covering my travels, hobbies, and adventures. Who would have thought this prevailed all these years and still going strong?

Well, happy anniversary to my blog, and a big thank you to all my readers and supporters for keeping my blog going! A toast to many more years ahead.

DIY Project #29, Part 2

DIY project number 29 is coming along slowly. I’m okay with the pace because I’m simply taking my time. There have been distractions, but good ones, like going away for the weekend to hubby’s hometown. And then, of course, there were the golf games. But all in all, I’m pleased with how the project is progressing.

The biggest challenge is working on the sofa chair, as fabric materials are hard to handle. Now, I cannot don’t do the sofa chair because it is the main piece of furniture in this little layout. Just have to be positive to get it done.

Bunker Horrors

Golf is one funny and challenging game. When you think you are playing well, it goes downhill. Then there are all sorts so woes from the tee to the green. There will be the usual chipping yips, putting issues, and sand bunker shots.

Last week’s game was an eye-opener. The replacement driver turned out better than expected, which was nice. But it was the bunker horrors that put a dent in the overall game. I have not played sand bunker situations for a long time already. Generally, I avoid them and tend to do well managing myself out there.

But last week, it was a different script. I went into eight bunkers, hitting five in a row on the front nine and raking up nine shots to get out. What had just happened? It was as if a magnet was pulling my balls into the bunkers! It wasn’t aggravating anymore but plain ridiculous, and I could only laugh about it. How else to deal with the misery?

One thing for sure, I had left my Cleveland Smart Sole Sand Wedge out of my bag, thinking I hardly use it for my games. And it was usually the case, hardly used. But after that episode, the club was back in my golf bag!
