Well, Well… Am I Surprised?

23 Jun

A few days ago, I lamented about King.com being inconsistent with their board setups for Candy Crush for different devices. And this has occurred many times on several levels. Guess what? They are at it again.

This time on Level 1735. On the iPad, it is definitely harder compared to the game in Facebook. No wonder I was having a tough time trying to figure it out. It was when I went into YouTube to see what others did that I realized the boards were different.

So obviously after learning this discrepancy, I played the game in Facebook and within the five lives, I made it with some lives to spare.

For the iPad, the popcorn squares are at a tougher place!

At It Again!

Why does King.com keep having differences on a same level for different devices? And this is not the first time. As I have been an ardent (professional) candy crusher and constantly journal about it, throughout my challenges, there have been several levels that I have encountered that has discrepancies.

I discovered yet another difference yesterday while attempting Level 1721. As you can see from the pictures, the board setup is different on the iPad versus the game in Facebook. Even the challenges are different.

Why do they keep doing this? Hrmph is all I can say.

See the railtrack on the iPad?

There’s no railtrack here on the laptop!

Comfort Food

3 Jun

I don’t profess to be a good chef but sometimes when the mood hits, I can proudly say I can cook up a storm. It was exam week last week and M2 was stressing and studying like a possessed being. So I try to play my part and help her by making comfort food over the weekend before exams started.

Initially I thought I would try the bacon cheese sandwich recipe that was shared on Facebook but she said bacon is bad and one would die from eating it. She couldn’t be more direct on this matter. So rather than insisting and stressing her out even more, I asked what would she like and she requested for the potato pizza that I had made before.

But this time, I used baby spinach with ham. The first time being prosciutto garnishing the usual cheeses, fresh mushrooms and baby tomatoes, while the second was with tuna and romaine lettuce. The outcome? Just as good as the previous attempts!

You can check out the original recipe at www.tastemade.com/videos/bismarck-potato-pizza

A Surprise

28 Apr

It is nice when some games you play remembers it’s your birthday and surprises you with a little present! Both Monster Busters and Hexa Blast gave me some coins and more importantly, a week of free play to bust some monsters. Yes, a week! How cool is that? Anyway, yay to it, I am a monster buster this whole week, forget them candies and farm animals.

The power of technology was at its best on this special day. There were wishes from friends and family, near and far in WhatsApp and Facebook, likes and loves for the Facebook birthday postings, SMSes from services and people in my life and even my district politician (how significant he is in my life I don’t know!) and phone calls from family. Don’t forget the wishes in person that comes with bear hugs! I felt like a celebrity short of signing autographs. I think I would have added an extra wrinkle or two if I grinned anymore that I already had!

But closer to the heart, the significant day was filled with doing things I enjoy – golf with friends, followed by my virtual games as I couldn’t nap upon reaching home (being Queen for the day does not necessitate one to go in the office), then being with true friends and family for dinner, and receiving a lovely and poignant birthday card in the mail from my M1, halfway across the world.

Sometimes there are no words that can describe the depths of these actions but simply being in the moment – absorbing, remembering and being thankful for such wonderfulness that I am surrounded with. Thank you all, you know who you are to make this another bookmark in my memory bank. Maybe I don’t have to stay forever 38!

Love you all!

Drinks for dinner!

Don’t count the candles!

Stalled

19 Feb

I must say I have reached an impressive level of 1500 for Candy Crush Saga. Can’t believe that I am still at it. My other games have also progressed well: Level 895 for Monster Blasters and Level 837 for Soda. Even the Jackpot game that I diligently spin in Facebook everyday. I cracked Top 20 yesterday!

But the same satisfaction cannot be said for Candy Crush Jelly and Farm Heroes. I have stalled at Level 95 and Level 846 respectively. Sigh… Hopefully it won’t stay like this for long.

Eesh! Another Difference!

9 Feb

Did you know Level 1486 of Candy Crush on the iPad is different from the laptop in Facebook? I was stuck at the level for awhile and was taken aback when the same level appeared differently on my different devices. When I YouTubed up Level 1486, results shown were the laptop’s version, not the iPad’s. So I played the iPad’s 1486 most of the time.

Then I made progress and discovered that Level 1486, with an all red jellybean starting board on the laptop is actually Level 1488 on the iPad!

Why does King.com do this? Eesh. Now I am curious as to what Level 1488 on the laptop in Facebook is. But I won’t know until I am back home as I do not have my laptop with me on this trip.

Ugh! Nasty

30 Nov

King.com is nasty. They make the levels in Candy Crush different on different devices! I did not realize this until over the weekend when I attempted Level 1306.

On the iPad, the challenge was to get 3 cherries in 35 moves but in Facebook on the laptop, it required just 2 cherries and 50 moves! No wonder I have been stuck here for so long. Eesh.

Finally made it.

Never Play Offline

26 Oct

It was Friday and we were on our way home. The rain came down heavily and I was tired, having used quite a fair bit of my creative brain cells in the office. Hubby was driving so I whipped out my iPad for my usual dosage of my games during the unusual hour long journey home. Can’t live without them, you know… the games, not the traffic. I must admit I did play some virtual games in the office whilst being stumped for ideas.

Usually all the King.com games can be played offline so routinely, I did my usual three. Then I moved on to Monster Busters. Now this game cannot be played offline. It would prompt you to go on as guest because there’s no connection but I didn’t try. So I exited and left it as is, without further thoughts to it.

That evening, after a hearty dinner, it was time to unwind. I reached for my trusty iPad and launched Monster Busters.

To my horror, when the game launched, I was at Level 1! Oh my gawd. What happened?! I should be at Stage 595 but, no, I was right at the beginning. I freaked out a bit. Closed the app and relaunched. Same thing!

When I told M2, she asked if I was logged in to Facebook which I was not; this happened when I tried playing the game offline earlier in the car. Thank goodness after connecting to FB, I catapulted back up to Stage 595.

Phew and double phew! Moral of the story here, never try to play offline when they tell you so.

Never Judge

8 Oct

I thought rescuing honey bears would be easier than getting four bottle caps so I have been avoiding Level 495 on my iPad. Because the level is different on the iPad and the laptop, I am limited to just playing on the laptop in the morning before I go to work and in the evening when I get home.

How wrong I have been! When my project finally closed and I took a breather, I thought why not try Level 495 on the iPad. And guess what? After just one attempt, I am through! So never judge the difficulty of the challenge presented.

Eh? Different Again!

1 Oct

I have been very busy the past few days working on the design of a cookbook. So much so, I’ve actually neglected my virtual games. There just isn’t time in the office to sneak in a game even for a breather because my deadline is very tight.

And the past few evenings when I get home, I would use the laptop only to read the news to unwind than to play any games. By bedtime, I am so brain-drained, there isn’t any energy left to strategize moves for candies or farm fruits.

On Tuesday night, routine kicked in but news have been so unappealing, I played my games. And this was when I discovered yet another difference!

King.com has been very careless or perhaps sneaky to have different board setups for Candy Crush (Level 1180) and now, Candy Crush Soda too. Level 495 has different challenges for the iPad and in Facebook on the laptop. I really don’t know why but I feel saving 17 honey bears is an easier task than collecting 4 bottle caps. Let’s see how long I need to pass this level.

Honey bears or…

Bottle caps? You decide!
