A Sketch and a Plan

11 Jul

Who would have thought that having nasal congestion is bad? I thought it would cloud my senses but contrary to it, it brings out my inner creativity.

We were out at the mall yesterday and stumbled upon a new art supplies store. Like a kid let loose in a candy parlor, we explored the aisles to our hearts’ content, oohing and ahh-ing constantly. It was as if we have been deprived for so long.

I found some balsa wood and picked up a long piece; I decided to do a carving whilst M2 debated over a square and rectangle canvas. In the end, she chose the square one. On my prodding, she decided to try her hands at painting. So exciting!

We came home and after a good rest and dinner, I began my new project. For three solid hours, I did not touch my iPad and sat at the dining table to work out a sketch. Then I  whipped out my trusty Swiss Army penknife because I couldn’t find my carving tools and did this… a totem pole of owls.

Stay tuned for its progress and finished product!

Several Shades Darker

1 Jul

Like I have said it was going to be a long day for Day 5 of the trip and it was. I got home pass midnight yesterday and settled into bed only after two. Yawn…

After the last round which was so tiring, I have become several shades darker.

The sun was out in full force and despite my slapping on sunblock, it wasn’t enough. But then again, I have this bad habit of not reapplying a second time protection. It’s not so obvious on the face because I tanned out evenly but the hands. Oh dear.

For the last three games, I stopped wearing even my left glove, playing with both hands gloveless and it’s evident in the shades. Just look at my left hand! I wear a wraparound wrist brace (to prevent the old injury from recurring) and you can see the two tones. I couldn’t help it and took my Pantone chart out to find a match to the two shades. You can see the original skin tone, looking almost like a Pantone 7514U whereas the exposed part of my hand, a Pantone 7585U, several shades darker.

The right hand is also a Pantone 7585U because it was gloveless. And it stops at this shade when the sleeve starts, just slightly above the wrist. I sure look funny with such uneven tan lines here and there especially on the hands.

Well, the golf break had been good but good things always must come to an end. I am back in the office today.

Day 2: After Golf

27 Jun

After our game and quick bite at the clubhouse of Jeongsan Golf Club, we went back to the city and it rained all the way. So much so, the intended stops at two landmarks, the Post Office and the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon could only be a fleeting moment. It was impossible to have a proper look with the rain throwing a damper at the plans. Oh well…

I find motorists in Ho Chi Minh City such impatient creatures. They honk all the time! In fact, our bus driver was also one agitated dude. He certainly made full use of his honk and even rolled down his window to argue with the motorbikes when we were caught smack in the middle of a gridlock. Gosh, such attitude. We were headed for a massage when this incident happened.

Nonetheless, it didn’t spoil the mood of all looking forward to the massage ahead. When you see the name of the massage place, try to pronounce it without any funny ideas. Chortle…

The massage center was very disorganized despite being informed ahead of our group of 16. It took much talking and negotiations before matters were settled and soon everyone was ushered along for their treatment.

I noticed the language barrier always poses the biggest challenge when things don’t fall into place smoothly. There will be blank looks, frustrated feelings and sometimes even bordering on annoyance for all involved. I am sure we are not the only ones experiencing these sentiments.

I must say my masseur was good. She worked out my kinks well. How did I play today? Well… My short game and putting was the big letdown. Hopefully the next three games I would fare better. Anyway, after the session, it was time to head back to the hotel.

A short rest and soon we went to look for food. Street Food Market was just around the corner and we ate to our heart’s content. By eight, my roomie and I decided to call it a night and headed back to the hotel.

Tomorrow another 5.00am routine. Better sleep well tonight. At least the bedside lamp can switch off now.

Gotta have Pho!

Well, Well… Am I Surprised?

23 Jun

A few days ago, I lamented about King.com being inconsistent with their board setups for Candy Crush for different devices. And this has occurred many times on several levels. Guess what? They are at it again.

This time on Level 1735. On the iPad, it is definitely harder compared to the game in Facebook. No wonder I was having a tough time trying to figure it out. It was when I went into YouTube to see what others did that I realized the boards were different.

So obviously after learning this discrepancy, I played the game in Facebook and within the five lives, I made it with some lives to spare.

See where the popcorn squares are located

For the iPad, the popcorn squares are at a tougher place!

Maybe It’s Not For Me

21 Jun

Not too long ago, when I was tired with my usual virtual games, I tried another game, 1010. But I found myself playing it more with frustration than satisfaction because after I achieved my best score of 5708, it was exasperating that I cannot surpass that figure. Ugh.

The annoying part to it is that there is only one high score on record and only one board to play. Unlike my other games, I move on, I make progress and I can see my ranking. Maybe this game is not for me, like 2048. I’ve stopped since.

Finally

20 Jun

Monster Busters Hexa Blast finally updated and I have progressed. Yay. Likewise for Candy Crush, at 1732 now after coming out tops (again) for the Piñata Park chapter. And for Monster Busters, currently at Level 512.

On a much brighter note, I crossed 887 for Farm Heroes. Finally. Double yay! But find myself stuck at 772 for Soda. Sigh…

At It Again!

17 Jun

Why does King.com keep having differences on a same level for different devices? And this is not the first time. As I have been an ardent (professional) candy crusher and constantly journal about it, throughout my challenges, there have been several levels that I have encountered that has discrepancies.

I discovered yet another difference yesterday while attempting Level 1721. As you can see from the pictures, the board setup is different on the iPad versus the game in Facebook. Even the challenges are different.

Why do they keep doing this? Hrmph is all I can say.

See the railtrack on the iPad?

There’s no railtrack here on the laptop!

Taking Forever

16 Jun

Monster Busters Hexa Blast is taking forever to update. I am sitting at Level 1175 and going in daily only to collect coins. The other games have progressed well. Monster Busters itself, I am now at Level 501.

For Candy Crush, I am now in Piñata Park at 1722 and even Soda, I finally managed the difficult 765, now at 770. But the same cannot be said for Farm Heroes. Sadly I am still stuck at 887. I don’t know when I will cross this level as it is also taking forever. Sigh…

It’s Been Good

7 Jun

The weather has changed. And this means lazy days ahead, doing nothing but being horizontal and poking away on my iPad to work on my virtual games. I must say it’s been good.

I was champ for the Taffy Treetops chapter of Candy Crush after several missed opportunities in the previous ones. I’ll take whatever comes my way. Now I am at Level 1695 and Level 765 for Soda.

Farm Heroes has also progressed, at 887 now. Hexa Blast has yet to update still, so I just go in to collect the daily coins and lastly, for Monster Busters, I have progressed to Level 464.

Yep. It’s been good.

Moving Day

2 Jun

It’s great when levels that I have been stagnant at finally has movements. For Candy Crush, I have gone on to Level 1683, Soda, when I least expected it, also moved to Level 756.  Same goes for Farm Heroes – unexpected movement.

Hubby was driving and I was being a farmer on my iPad in the car, poking on the screen mindlessly. There was no strategy I must admit. I was just willing time away because traffic was slow. Suddenly, opportunity presented itself and the next thing I knew, I passed Level 883. Wheee…

New levels for Hexa Blast is still not here yet, so I am taking a breather from it and for Monster Busters, I am waiting for the three keys to unlock the next level onwards. For now, I have completed Level 421.

It’s been good.
