New Pets Again!

13 Oct

Remember the aquarium we had and a fish called Bob Clayton? Then post-Bob era, all the fishes died? Well, we left the aquarium just filled with only water for the longest time and M2 reminded us that we had pet water.

Over the weekend, the status finally changed! Hubby bought some new fishes; this time some pretty looking Betta, otherwise known as fighting fish and the four new residents are enjoying their new home.

I just hope they last longer than the previous tenants. No decision yet whether to call them Bob or not though.

Back to Back

12 Oct

Just when I thought I couldn’t top my Miso Master effort for my Candy Crush effort in Snack Shack, I am now Mushroom Master for Fungi Forest! Back to back trophies. Yay.

My virtual games have been progressing well. I am sitting at Level 505 for Candy Crush Soda, Level 804 for Farm Heroes and Level 1210 for Candy Crush.

Even my occasional dabble in Monster Blasters Hexa Blast, I am sitting pretty good, at Stage 578.

This week I expect further progress in all games. In other words, work in the office has slowed somewhat until the next project starts.

Everybody Has Skechers!

9 Oct

I was in M2’s room one night and discovered a pair of Build-a-Bear Skechers’ sneakers. How cute. I bought them from my trip with a girlfriend donkey years’ ago to Anaheim, California. I have forgotten about them and it’s just sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

“Oh look! Skechers, like my walking shoes and new golf shoes,” I commented and started to put the mini sneakers onto Olaf, who has stumpy legs and the best candidate available to don the footwear.

“Yeah, everybody has Skechers,” replied M2.

“Yep. Me, Daddy, even Grandma and now Olaf,” I quipped.

“Except me…” M2 mumbled.

“I know. Soon. You’re in between shoe sizes now so no point buying a pair now and you will grow out of it.” I reasoned.

I guess it’s just a matter of time (and a lot of growing) before M2 joins us in having a pair of Skechers too.

Don’t they look cute?

Never Judge

8 Oct

I thought rescuing honey bears would be easier than getting four bottle caps so I have been avoiding Level 495 on my iPad. Because the level is different on the iPad and the laptop, I am limited to just playing on the laptop in the morning before I go to work and in the evening when I get home.

How wrong I have been! When my project finally closed and I took a breather, I thought why not try Level 495 on the iPad. And guess what? After just one attempt, I am through! So never judge the difficulty of the challenge presented.

Stuck Again

6 Oct

I am at the tail end of my book project so there has been time to use my iPad. But I find the iPad so slow after the update to OS9! Even with the patch 9.02, it doesn’t help. Sigh…

On the game front, things are slow figuratively and literally. I am on a tag team mode to play because rescuing honey bears over bottle caps is not as easy as I thought. So upon finishing the five lives on the laptop, I move on to work on the farm and the other candy game before almost reluctantly reaching over for the iPad when all lives are used up.

For the record, I am stuck at Level 495 for Soda, stuck at Level 800 for Farm Heroes and stuck at Level 1198 for Saga. On a brighter note, I was crowned Miso Master for Snack Shack, the previous episode in Candy Crush.

A consolation, Miso Master

The Haze

5 Oct

The thick haze enveloping the country has gotten so bad that the golf game I was involved in organizing for Sunday at the Club had to be cancelled. Although all the players showed up and the Club took the decision to close the course when API readings breached unhealthy figures,  everyone was reliefed; we don’t have to be out there, as much as we enjoy the game.

We don’t know how long we have to suffer in this horribly choking condition. At this point, there isn’t any reason in postponing the game to a later date because there isn’t any wind to blow the haze away. For all you know, it will still stay on not just in our country but the whole region.

There’s too much fine particles in the air. Sigh… What we seriously need is not rain but one episode or two of strong wind to blow the haze to high heaven and be gone!

Not a blue in the sky at all

So Intense

2 Oct

It’s been a long time since I was last creatively challenged. I guess I have not been working intensely enough. My current design project has left me brain-drained night after night.
The last super intense project that I can recall had me far worse off than now was ten years ago! The client never left me alone, chasing me right now to when I returned from a family vacation from Melbourne. The minute I landed and switched on my mobile, the phone rang! Aargh… Situation like this you remember a lifetime.

Six months after I finally completed that project, I discovered a patch of white hair at the lower right back of my skull. Creative patch, literally? Evidence of all the dead creative cells, that’s for sure!

While the current project has not resulted in any white patch (yet), it is not taking six months either. It is more of the creative differences within this short intense week that are enough to drain me and give me a splitting headache every night. Sigh…

I hope this will end soon so that I can resume my non-exciting life of crushing candies and playing golf.

Eh? Different Again!

1 Oct

I have been very busy the past few days working on the design of a cookbook. So much so, I’ve actually neglected my virtual games. There just isn’t time in the office to sneak in a game even for a breather because my deadline is very tight.

And the past few evenings when I get home, I would use the laptop only to read the news to unwind than to play any games. By bedtime, I am so brain-drained, there isn’t any energy left to strategize moves for candies or farm fruits.

On Tuesday night, routine kicked in but news have been so unappealing, I played my games. And this was when I discovered yet another difference!

King.com has been very careless or perhaps sneaky to have different board setups for Candy Crush (Level 1180) and now, Candy Crush Soda too. Level 495 has different challenges for the iPad and in Facebook on the laptop. I really don’t know why but I feel saving 17 honey bears is an easier task than collecting 4 bottle caps. Let’s see how long I need to pass this level.

Honey bears or…

Bottle caps? You decide!
