It’s Somewhat an Update

4 Nov

I have finally managed to go beyond Toffee Tower. This means the iPad is not required as far as Candy Crush is concerned because Boneyard Bonanza and several more new chapters are only available on the laptop, not the iPad. Sigh.

Also soon after the questionable update, the app righted itself. The new King.com game, Candy Crush Soda, now appears on the iPad as an icon below Odus’s Dreamworld icon. It wasn’t there before immediately after the update. That’s why I couldn’t see where the update was.

However, it is still in ‘Coming Soon’ mode, I cannot play it as well. Double sigh. In short, the recent update is basically a prelude of a new game within the game. When? Coming soon!

All Aboard!

23 Oct

I made short work of Choco Rio Grande once the tickets came. This was because Level 515 of Farm Heroes was tough to pass and I had all this energy, so crushing candies was the best activity especially in the cold rainy weather.

Eventually, I did pass Level 515 and am now at Level 517 while for Candy Crush, another set of tickets came for me to go on to Toffee Tower; I am now at Level 699. I have been alternating between devices, using both the iPad and the laptop.

And when on the laptop, as if candies and farm animals are not enough, the curious in me tried King.com’s new game: Candy Crush Soda. Similar to the candy version, this game requires one to pop soda bottles and rescue gummy bears. Quite interesting… Oh dear, will this be another new addiction?

Different Again!

22 Sep
Notice the presence of jellybeans inside the trapped areas?

on FB: Notice the presence of striped candies inside the trap areas?

on the iPad: notice the non-existence of jellies in the same area!

on the iPad: notice the non-existence of candies in the same area!

I stopped playing Candy Crush on the laptop for a while because I didn’t need the aggravation from Level 677. The level is just so hard, living up to its name as the hardest level ever. Rather than torturing myself, I figured I should just take a break from it and especially so when I have been busy with work lately. But last Friday, after a stressful week, I decided to go into the game on the iPad just to help friends with lives.

Out of the blue, I leapfrogged to Level 677 when clearly there was no update (on the iPad) to open up Crunchy Courtyard. Surprise! Surprise! Since I moved, I might as well play the five rounds.

But I discovered the board looked different on the iPad compared to the board in Facebook on the laptop! So much more difficult, it is obvious King.com has not been on top of things. Until they fix it, I should avoid the game on the iPad at least.

A little note: King.com has fixed the problem for the iPad before the weekend was over.

The Wait is Over

8 Aug

I had a busy day in the office yesterday and got home later than usual. Home routine automatically kicked in before I finally settled down to my devices to catch up with my games, which I did not play at all the whole day.

It’s funny how I always complain about being stuck at my games, only to find myself moving on. I was just ranting about Level 416 in Farm Heroes when the unexpected occurred: I passed it and currently, at Level 419. But this latest August update is very unstable (again) for the iPad Mini. Keeps crashing and wasting lives. King.com had better fix this…

And as I sulked over Candy Crush over the past many days, last night, I discovered the new chapter has opened! Wheeee….

The wait is finally over and I am now at Level 637.

Oh Dear! A Boo-boo

25 Jul

I have played Candy Crush long enough to know when there’s a boo-boo done by the app developer! You don’t proclaim yourself a professional at it for nothing, you know.

Straight to the issue, let me point out to the world that Level 608 and Level 623 are the same! Same challenge, same amount of moves given, same layout. Ran out of ideas, King.com? C’mon… If you want to recycle, at least have them far, far apart instead of so close!

Level 608: spot the similarity!

Level 608: spot the similarity!

Level 623: spot the similarity!

Level 623: spot the similarity!

Noooo… Daddy!

“What do I do? Should I accept? Must I play? I have to send lives?!”

Clearly the agitated hubby is not quite farmer nor does he has the patience for Farm Heroes. He was enlisted to ‘play’ only to help send me lives whenever I get stuck to cross a chapter. But with the network of friends in Facebook, it became unavoidable and known to all that he’s also a farm hand (albeit a non-active one). That’s why he’s been getting a barrage of requests for assistance.

Last night, I tried to convince him to try play the game citing it as mind-challenging and even therapeutic.

“Should I play?” he asked the girls.

“Nooo… Daddy!” both girls exclaimed in horror.

I guess I remain the only farmer in the family. Sigh.

Should I Just Give Up?

Now, the same level on the iPad. Notice the difference in the same elements?

Candy Crush updated again for the iPad last week. This means I don’t have to rely on the laptop to aggravate myself. Yes, I am still stuck at Level 578. Should I even bother to continue or should I just give up? Hmm…

I decided to continue for the sake of continuing, mindlessly flicking on the iPad without success. Then last night, right before I went to bed, I tried on the laptop.

And you know what?! I discovered the layout of the board differs on the iPad and in Facebook on the laptop! How could they do this again! This is the second time I made this discrepancy discovery. The first being Level 410.

After several days off Candy Crush, focusing on Farm Heroes instead, last night I discovered that the chocolate maker have suddenly shifted and now is located at the bottom of the grid. On the iPad, however, the chocolate maker sits on top! Even the two side jellies are different! The iPad version needs two hits while the laptop version, just once. On top of these, the blocks on the iPad needs more moves to break them! No wonder I have not been able to pass.

Maybe there’s hope to overcome this level because it is now way easier. The fact that several of my fellow Candy Crushers (who caught up to Level 578 and were perpetually stuck like me) finally moved on has given me hope that I can do it!

I shouldn’t just give up yet but give it another try.

Oh No! Not in Synch

This is me at Level 318 on the iPad.

This is also me but at Level 314 in FB on the laptop.

And here I am also at Level 314 on the iPhone5S.

Right after I made it pass Level 314 in Farm Heroes over the weekend, I discovered I was not in synch with all my three devices! Oh no!!! So intent I was at Level 318 (on the iPad), I discovered I couldn’t carry on with the game in Facebook on the laptop or in its app on the iPhone5S because on these two, I am still at Level 314 while on the iPad (where I farm most of the time), I have progressed on to 318. Eeesh.

I’ve tried to connect to Facebook every time I’m at it but to no avail. I hope this problem will be fixed soon. Otherwise, I have to resort to asking for more lives to get pass Level 318.

Eeeks! Spiders!

26 May

Unlike Candy Crush where every chapter has a name (Biscuit Bungalow, Gummy Gardens and so on), Farm Heroes Saga do not have any whimsical names for its chapters. They just introduce new elements and although, it may not be evolving chocolates and tornadoes, it can be annoying in the form of nasty rabbits, time bombs, irritating raccoon and mean fruits.

And the latest being spiders! Eeeks. Be warned, spiders appear from Level 266 onwards.

Family Not Required

23 May

The last few levels of Farm Heroes was tough. But as always, with patience and perseverance, I would overcome the challenge. It took a while to overcome Level 190 and I thought I would require the hubby, M1 and the Roo to send me tickets. But guess what? They were not required!

The secret to this is, along the way, beat Rancid the raccoon by getting at least two stars to obtain the key to unlock the next chapter. So as soon as I achieved the stars, three farm animals automatically show up and tadaa! I’d breeze pass. Quite pleasant I must say as this is the first time, I did not have to enlist the family or friends for help. I am not complaining but satisfying, that’s all.
