Day at the Golf Course

22 Apr

Can’t believe we are into Day 4 of the trip already. Today we played at Nikanti Golf Club. A very modern club with good service with an excellent course condition, today proved to be a less stressful golf outing.

One reason being we were allowed to have the buggies on course. As such, after the game, I only walked 7,623 steps after the game. I had an even better game today than the first two games. Although it was windy, it was hardly a factor.

But it’s never just the golf course but the company. We simply had a really good time. So much so, we decided we will go for an impromptu game tomorrow morning before we fly home!

For now, we head to Plaza Thaniya for some shopping and hopefully, a foot massage after that.

Dinner was quick, hot and uncomfortable. We couldn’t get a table in the air-con dining area. The humidity and heat was unbearable, I was hit with a sudden wave of nauseousness. The last bottle of whiskey was not appealing and the thought of more sweating if I ate all those chilli dishes just made me lost my appetite totally.

So thank goodness, there were slots for us to be rubbed down. Tomorrow will be a long day, waking up at 5.30am again and off to Lam Luk Kha for our final game before catching the 7.30pm flight back to KL.

Off to Bangkok

21 Apr

Banyan Golf Club was nice but hot and windy. The 18-hole walk today covered a lot of ups and downs over the hilly terrain. I felt totally drained and challenged with the wind factor. But I played better today than at Black Mountain.

Anyway after the game, we stopped for a quick duck noodle lunch before saying goodbye to Hua Hin. Our journey ahead to Bangkok should be about three hours and we got into Chinatown just in time for dinner.

Everyone agreed to Teochew food and we had a really good dinner at Tang Jai Yoo to go with the bottle of whiskey that none of us could pronounce the name. I think it’s best to head to the hotel, no more walking for the night, to rest.

Tomorrow we will play at Nikanti, a new golf course.

So Far So Good

20 Apr

After our golf game at Black Mountain, we visited the Hua Hin Hills Vineyard. A hot day is deserving with some good wine and a combination platter!

Guess What?

20 Apr

We decided to take a break from life and are now in Hua Hin, Thailand for some golfing fun with our regular buddies. Yesterday we departed from KLIA. Playing two rounds in Hua Hin and then back to Bangkok for one round, this has been a much anticipated trip. Thanks (again) to cuegolf.com for their services in providing us excellent golf experiences.

M2 had been prepped prior to our trip and she is fine. The maid will take care of her. And with WhatsApp and Skype, we are reachable. In fact, M1 said she will Skype her to keep her company despite the different time zones that they are both in.

It was a long day of travel with delays at takeoff, touch down, followed by baggage coming out and traffic on a Sunday evening. Ahh… Well, we are not in a hurry, after all we are on holiday.

Dinner was at a leisurely pace before we arrived and checked in at midnight.

Black Mountain Golf Club awaits us for our first game today. Looking forward to it despite only four hours of sleep.

Freedom!

17 Apr

I must admit the last two weeks has been quite a juggling act. Our maid went back to her country for her annual leave. This means our work schedule had to be juggled so that one of us would be home when M2 returns from school. On top of this, we had to ensure official pet number one, Rooney, is fed his dinner on the dot. So far, it’s mostly me going home early which is fine as I am hardly working anyway. I just go to the office.

And for the last two weeks, I have been more domesticated than ever! Every weekday evening, I would make dinner at home instead of us eating out. I actually cooked! And this is not just opening cans of food as before. It has been pretty healthy and full of variety. From Chinese stir fries and soup to grills and salad, the hubby and M2 are definitely well fed. I am pleased to say I have not lost my cooking skills.

Last night, the maid returned and freedom ensued! So off for a much deserved game of golf today! Yay.

Disappointment

16 Apr

At the beginning of March this year, I have been tracking when the BMW Golf Cup International tournament would open for registration. Two days ago, I remembered to check and discovered that the tournament details were finally up; it could have been up earlier and I was not aware. Nonetheless, I was excited and quickly tried to register online.

This is a tournament that I have been playing in for the last three years and was looking forward to participating again this year. Last year’s participation was my best effort – in the three attempts – coming in first and qualifying for the National Finals. At the Finals, I had a good time and won the Longest Drive novelty in the women’s category. Reminiscing the good memories, I was ready to fill up the necessary questions.

But I was in for a surprise. When I couldn’t go beyond the ‘select the date’ option, I called BMW Voice only to be informed that I am no longer eligible to participate this year! Noooooo….

Boo hoo hoo… I found out that it is a discreet BMW policy disallowing owners with vehicles that are more than 7 years old from the date of purchase. I was crestfallen. My car is seven this year, thus the ineligibility.

Unable to hide the disappointment, I went and drown my sadness with a huge plate of Briyani rice! Something I shouldn’t eat because of the protein diet that I am on but I couldn’t help it. I needed to drown my sadness and carbo was a good reprieve.

Maybe I should consider a new model by next year? Hmm…

Progress!

13 Apr

There has been a sense of acceptance and calmness in me knowing that M1 has settled down on campus very well because we WhatsApp and Skype often. So now I focus on M2, spending a lot of time with her and constantly giving her the encouragement to do well in school so that she can be on the right path like her sister.

I have gone back to playing golf and my routine with my virtual games has progressed well too. A fellow candy crusher informed me that Level 875 was a tough one to cross but luck was on my side. I did short-work of it and currently, at Level 879 in Coco Crossroads. Another tough one to cross I must admit.

As for Candy Crush Soda, I have moved to Level 325 but looks like I will be stuck here for a bit; not an easy level to overcome. And for Farm Heroes, it was very trying to pass the two difficult levels of 726 and 728. Sitting at Level 730 now. So yeah, much progress.

It’s A Beautiful Thing

6 Apr

Brushing aside ideas suggested for the two of us for the weekend, we actually had a busy time. I played golf on Saturday morning with my friends while hubby had a meeting with the resident committee of the estate we live in. Later that day, we attended a friend’s baptism.

This friend of mine is indeed a special friend as our friendship goes back a long, long way. How long you may ask?

Pre-historic I would say.

I have a picture of her and me plus some other friends at my 7th birthday party to support this.

Over the years in school, we were in the same class and sometimes not but facing all sorts of challenges and adventures together. As time passed, we went our separate ways (for further education, career, marriage and family) but always kept in touch. Fast forward to the future.

We became more connected than ever especially with the boom of technology. Also with priorities evolving constantly and the children getting older, hence less time focused on them, we were able to build an even stronger friendship in our busy lives. Always catching up and updating each other via a phone call or text messages every now and then, coupled with efforts to meet for dinner, it’s a special bond and a beautiful friendship.

And like our friendship, the baptism was of a special bond and a beautiful thing.

They Changed It!

1 Dec

Level 735 of Candy Crush has been so hard because it requires one to collect 250,000 points! How? It has been very difficult and demoralizing, so I stopped for several days. Last Friday after a golf game, and a tiring one with so much laughter and food after the game, I came home and without a thought, launched Candy Crush automatically. And you know what? They changed the requirement! So I was pleasantly surprised to find myself collecting slightly over 100,000 points and made it passed the level in one attempt. Whee….. However, a pinch on myself and a quick check to verify that I was not mistaken, showed conflicting requirements. From an initial 250,000 points for both the laptop and iPad, the app in Facebook on the laptop needs only 100,000 while the iPad has gone up to 500,000! What is going on? Thank goodness I played it on the laptop.

So Annoying!

28 Nov

It was a Saturday and the ritual is the same if I am not playing golf. I wake up, I get my coffee and my crackers, I sit at the sofa and I crush some candies.

It was Level 733 that I was stuck at. Somehow, I managed to pass the level and you know what? The darn laptop froze! Aaaargghhhh… Which means this tough level that I managed to pass was not captured and I am still stuck at Level 733.

So annoying.
