It’s A Beautiful Thing

6 Apr

Brushing aside ideas suggested for the two of us for the weekend, we actually had a busy time. I played golf on Saturday morning with my friends while hubby had a meeting with the resident committee of the estate we live in. Later that day, we attended a friend’s baptism.

This friend of mine is indeed a special friend as our friendship goes back a long, long way. How long you may ask?

Pre-historic I would say.

I have a picture of her and me plus some other friends at my 7th birthday party to support this.

Over the years in school, we were in the same class and sometimes not but facing all sorts of challenges and adventures together. As time passed, we went our separate ways (for further education, career, marriage and family) but always kept in touch. Fast forward to the future.

We became more connected than ever especially with the boom of technology. Also with priorities evolving constantly and the children getting older, hence less time focused on them, we were able to build an even stronger friendship in our busy lives. Always catching up and updating each other via a phone call or text messages every now and then, coupled with efforts to meet for dinner, it’s a special bond and a beautiful friendship.

And like our friendship, the baptism was of a special bond and a beautiful thing.

They Changed It!

1 Dec

Level 735 of Candy Crush has been so hard because it requires one to collect 250,000 points! How? It has been very difficult and demoralizing, so I stopped for several days. Last Friday after a golf game, and a tiring one with so much laughter and food after the game, I came home and without a thought, launched Candy Crush automatically. And you know what? They changed the requirement! So I was pleasantly surprised to find myself collecting slightly over 100,000 points and made it passed the level in one attempt. Whee….. However, a pinch on myself and a quick check to verify that I was not mistaken, showed conflicting requirements. From an initial 250,000 points for both the laptop and iPad, the app in Facebook on the laptop needs only 100,000 while the iPad has gone up to 500,000! What is going on? Thank goodness I played it on the laptop.

So Annoying!

28 Nov

It was a Saturday and the ritual is the same if I am not playing golf. I wake up, I get my coffee and my crackers, I sit at the sofa and I crush some candies.

It was Level 733 that I was stuck at. Somehow, I managed to pass the level and you know what? The darn laptop froze! Aaaargghhhh… Which means this tough level that I managed to pass was not captured and I am still stuck at Level 733.

So annoying.

Another Busy Weekend

17 Nov

Between attending a favorite cousin’s wedding and a golf game over the weekend, I still managed to find time to crush some candies! Boneyard Bonanza has been conquered. I guess it’s another round of waiting for tickets to come my way to move on to the next episode (in Facebook on laptop because Boneyard is the last chapter appearing on the iPad until an update comes along).

A quick check on Candy Crush Wiki (http://candy-crush-saga.wikia.com/wiki/Candy_Crush_Saga_Wiki) shows the new chapter being Marshmallow Mountains. Mmm… I hope my fellow candy crushers will send tickets soon. Tonight when I go home and use the laptop, I will find out.

It’s Different!

14 Nov

I seem to have an on-going love-hate relationship with Candy Crush. I stopped playing lately because Level 717 has been just so hard to pass. I figured I should focus on the BMW Golf Cup and not let the candy frustration distract me.

But when the tournament was over (I managed to win the Longest Drive novelty prize, a Garmin Approach S2 watch, with a 213 meter tee off), I came home elated and went back to crushing candies. That was when I discovered the difference in the challenge!

On the iPad, one has to get 4 color bombs to clear the level. Definitely very hard to achieve. However, the same level in Facebook on the laptop requires one to get 4 color bombs as well as 5 striped jellies! That’s difference number one. Difference number two, the board starts off with 3 bombs for you already. What a headstart! All you need to do then is to get one more bomb and make those striped candies, which aren’t that difficult to make. Definitely easier than before, it took me only one attempt to pass the level. Phew.

As for my new Garmin watch, I will definitely be using it for my next golf outing.

Ah! Finally…

20 Oct

You got to believe in yourself regardless of what you face. Last week, I was just lamenting that I was still stuck at Level 677 of Candy Crush when my other fellow candy crushers have managed to pass it. I didn’t believe I could not do the same, after having this feeling that the level has gotten easier.

So I was crushing candies like a maniac over the weekend, in between playing golf like a pro on tour (I played for three consecutive days).

Guess what? I finally crossed Level 677! Yay and double yay. After so long, I finally crossed the dastardly level of all dastardly levels. Tickets have come my way and I am now at the new chapter, Choco Rio Grande.

I Love My BMW!

I love my BMW and my golf. Combining both, you have the BMW Golf Cup International for amateurs. Yesterday I took the day off from work to go play at the tournament; my third year participating.

And this time, I did good. Achieving a personal best, I came out tops (1st placing) and qualified for the National finals in November! Words cannot describe the feeling of this achievement.

Going Away is Good

3 Sep

We got home late as expected because of traffic. The three-day weekend ended and holiday-makers, like us, made their way back to the city. Tired and happy that this golf outing was another success, we departed and said our goodbyes in high spirits.

But before the exchange of goodbyes and hugs, there was already talk of planning another trip! I was hesitant and felt that I had to ask my girls first before committing. How times have changed; a parent asking for permission from the child instead of the other way round!

The girls were happy to see us but did not jump for joy as we did not return bearing gifts. They have come to understand that our golf trips sometimes does not result in them receiving a souvenir from the place we were at. In fact, they actually enjoyed our absence. A 3D/2N trip is indeed short and does not make the heart grow fonder.

Some studying was done, school projects were worked on and a friend came over. M1 told me it was good we were away because she got quite a fair bit of school-related issues completed versus if we were to be around and nagged at them.

This is good I guess because this means the thought of no more golfing trips will no longer be an issue. Yay.

Time Flies

1 Sep

This trip, the two wake up calls are not too bad – 6.00am because firstly, RPGC is near the hotel and secondly, the tee off time at Bukit Besi is not that early unlike past trips, the wake up time was an un-Godly hours of 5.00am or earlier to allow long journeys.

I have had fun with the group. Time sure flies when one is enjoying one’s self. I detached myself from my virtual games (Candy Crush and Farm Heroes), my read (Jennifer Probst) and focused on friends and my golf. I even detach myself from my girls but with faith that they will do what they are required to do: study.

Anyway, today is our last day and by sun down, we will be home and all will be back to normal.
