Bunny Alert!

8 Aug

Our immediate neighbor with the Golden Retriever and German Shepard dogs was away for almost two weeks. And it was very peaceful without barking noises, especially from the unfriendly German Shepard. I could venture out to the garden without trepidation to get some fresh air.

I stopped going to the garden because the German Shepard would rush out whenever it sensed a presence and would bark up a ruckus. Unlike the friendlier Retriever, who would wait in anticipation for pets and love from me.

But recently, with the humans and dogs not around, their garden was subject to all sorts of critters making the place their playground. One morning, I spotted a bunny! My goodness, a bunny in dog territory? Did it cross the fence from the other neighboring house?

It zipped here and there on the barren ground with so much energy, being carefree and having the time of its life. I managed to snap a couple of close-ups when it ventured closer to our side. What a cutie pie!

The carrot in the background is a doggy chew toy, and not for the bunny!

I think there could be a hole somewhere between the two properties that allowed it to venture to this side. Hopefully, after its little adventure, it went home safely.

I’m sure once the dogs and their owners come home, it is the end of the little bunny’s adventure. As for us, it’s back to dealing with the barking of the unfriendly German Shepard all over again. Sigh.

Borderless Love, Part 2

13 Mar

It was drizzling and gloomy when we got home. And I had dinner to prepare in the kitchen, so I got things going. Hubby went to the garden and our adopted pet, the Golden Retriever from next door heard him somehow.

The adorable fluff ball dashed out of his house for a quick love pet and exchange.

However the fleeting moment was interrupted. His mom called out to him and reprimanded him for the sudden escape into the drizzling condition. I guess she doesn’t know he’s sneaking out for love pets from us. Heheh… So the poor fella had no choice but to go back indoors. Awww…

But he got his happy love exchange, hubby did too and I didn’t. Shucks.

We Love Sandra Boynton!

4 Aug

Sandra Boynton is my all time favorite illustrator and author for children’s book. I discovered her books while working in New York City back in the early 90s, after graduating from college. I am proud to say I have quite a sizeable collection of her titles.

My collection were read by M1 and M2 in their early years, and even me occasionally these days when the mood hits.

When M1 was a toddler, I taught her to read ‘But Not the Hippopotamus’. The child was amazing. She could recite the whole book with full of zest and expression without a glance at the pages. The only thing she struggled with was the long word ‘hippopotamus’ which came out as ‘neh-neh-neh-tamus’.

When M2 was 19 months’ old, she had her exposure to Sandra Boynton too. Multi-tasking at such an early age, she’s engrossed with ‘Barney’ on the TV while attempting to read ‘Doggies’ at the same time. You have to turn up the volume, ignore Barney and listen to her carefully.

Adorable is all I can say. Sigh… why do they grow up so fast?
