Fish Dog

15 Mar

We have many pets at home. There’s official pet number one, Rooney the English bulldog and there’s Miao-Miao the Arowana in its big aquarium. Not forgetting the tortoises and turtles. Then there’s the little aquarium with three Bettas (possibly soon to be two left) and we also have a pond full of fishes.

The pond residents are all called Bob so nobody is left unnamed. And we have one strange Bob in there, a climbing perch. It would jump out of the pond to land on the deck whenever hubby goes near the pond the feed the brood. Strange Bob behaves like a dog as if it’s coming out for snacks then jumps back in the water. Fish dog, I’d say! And the funny thing is, the real dog eats fish snacks!

The End is Near?

14 Mar

The situation does not look good for HobNob’s. Our one-eye blind Betta has been looking lethargic and nearing death. It’s even resting in the same corner where Svetlana used to rest just before she went to pet heaven. M2 morbidly calls it the death corner.

Several times, the other two companions would come over and just lay beside HobNob’s or simply hover over it, giving support. I’m not sure how long this will go on. It saddens me that the Bettas are not doing well. Sniffle…

Notice the eye? Blinded

Staying Put

11 Mar

How fast time flies as we head into the end of the first quarter of the year! The school holidays start next week but it’s only a week long. We are staying put because M2 has to study for her exams, which will begin soon after the week long break is over. With her sports out of the way, studying and exams are the next focus.

Then again, we can’t expect her to be constantly at her books, so there will be trips to the mall for a breather; I will have to adjust my work schedule.

It’s the Weather

10 Mar

These past few days I feel so lethargic, I think it’s because of the hot weather. My brain feels so fried, I can’t even think; my body feels so lazy, I just want to lay down on the cool marble floor and just be a sloth.

I don’t want to move, I don’t even relish playing my virtual games. But amazingly, I still play golf in the afternoon. Unfathomable.

It’s been very hot and humid and apparently, it will stay like this until June. My goodness. On a brighter (and silly) note, this heat sure feels like it is melting away the body fat. Heheh…

Came and Gone

8 Mar

We have two potted plants in our car porch and one of them has, or should I say had a resident. We discovered a nest last week and I have seen Mama Bird flying away whenever I get into my car to start the engine.

Peeking in quietly while she’s away, there were two little eggs in there! Awesome. But on Sunday when I checked again, the eggs were gone.

Not even an egg shell could be seen. Let’s hope all’s well with them.

Good Job

7 Mar

M2’s tiring schedule has finally come to an end. All that stay-back after school effort culminated in a final appearance on Sports Day on Saturday. She was involved in a sprint event, the team marching and cheer team’s performance. She did good and I am glad. Good job M2!

With this finally over, I am relieved and her spirits were high and happy. We go back to the normal school routine now. Phew.

Hot Days Ahead

4 Mar

The weather has changed and we are facing hot days ahead. It was sheer madness to go play golf yesterday on such a scorcher of a day.

Yes I melted. It’s bad for my golf. Maybe I should consider virtual golf? Hmm.

Giving Up

3 Mar

I have decided to give up Candy Crush Jelly and Blossom Blast because virtual games in general are taking up too much of my time and specifically I am hopeless at these two. I simply cannot go pass the levels that I am stuck at. Enough frustrations.

While Farm Heroes, Monster Blasters, Candy Crush Saga and Candy Crush Soda have taken up a lot of my time, playing another two games seems too much. Anyhow, the progress I have made thus far as evident by my last crown in Candy Crush’s Precious Pond makes up for the decision to stop the two.
Dropping the weak games will definitely free up some time for me to catch up with my reading and golf. And an occasional Piano Tiles session.

Remember I gave up being a Zookeeper awhile back?

One Eyed Bandit

1 Mar

Last night, we discovered one of the Bettas has lost its eye! Blinded on the left side. Horrors. I think it’s HobNob’s but I need to confirm with M2 on the identity. Poor fella.

This could have occurred earlier but we were away and did not know. It wasn’t obvious because when I look at the aquarium, it would turn on its good side to look back at me.

Hubby doesn’t think it will last. Gulp…

A Long Day

29 Feb

Saturday was a long day. Amazingly, I beat the wake up call of 5.30am by waking up 15 minutes ahead and finished my packing. It was our last day in Phuket. We got ready but I did not have my coffee as the van came early and we left for Blue Canyon Golf Club after loading up everything.

Traffic was not too bad being a Saturday but we barely made it. With the golf registration all done and before I knew it, we had to tee off and I still have not had my coffee.

The Blue Canyon canyon course was tough, an old course amidst rubber trees. The course was very dry and tons of dried leaves on the ground. There was even a point where the tee boxes were missing, buried under an ocean of leaves. The caddy had to use a sand bunker rake to clear a spot for us to stand properly to tee off.

Overall, I guess our expectations of the course left us a wee bit disappointed. Course was generally dry, even the creeks and bare trees lined the sides of some fairways. The sun came down hard and it wasn’t windy. I opted not to have a beer on the course because I have yet to have my coffee. Oh well. We finished our game early, had a good lunch at the clubhouse and got to the airport by 2.30pm.

Our friends’ flight was at 5.00pm, two hours earlier than ours so it made sense to get to the airport early which we didn’t mind as our departure was only two hours after theirs. But it was not to be when we discovered our departure was delayed and the day stretched longer for us. Sigh.

It was only then at 4pm that I finally had my coffee and I was very tired. Our wait at the airport was long. To cut a long story short, I had to have another coffee to stay awake. We finally boarded and left Phuket at 9.00pm instead and got into KLIA2 at 11.00pm. The huge airport meant we had to walk a good distance to retrieve our golf bags from Oversized Claims and from there to the Arrival Hall, another good kilometer away. By the time we arrived home, it was 1.00am! What a super long day.

Thank goodness, it was Sunday the next day to rest and rest we did. The getaway has officially ended and back to routine and time to plan for the next one to recover from this one!

Where’s the tee box?

Tee box must be here
