A Breakthrough

18 May

I thought I was going to be stuck at Level 914 of Candy Crush for a long time, bunched up at this point with several fellow candy crushers. This is by far the toughest level I have encountered.

But last Thursday, the unexpected happened. I was traveling in the car, on the way to the bank, when I played the game and the breakthrough came.

I must admit I had to use the lollipop three times when faced with just three jellies and not many more moves left to go. After the breakthrough passing 914, I breezed into the new chapter, Delectable Depths, with relative ease.

I am now at Level 927.

Addiction or Distraction?

14 May

Frustrated that I could not progress for my usual virtual games, I needed a distraction and decided to try the game, 2048. The girls and hubby play it all the time but I abstained fearing addiction.

My goodness! It is quite addictive. There are several versions available to download but I find the five tile version easiest to lull away time. Every now and then, I would pop over to this whenever I find myself stuck at my usual games.

Stalled

7 May

Going away was good and bad. Good because of the company, golf and food. Bad because wifi connection was quite a hassle, therefore communicating with both M1 and M2 was sparse, what more playing my virtual games online. We had to log in daily and each time only one device was allowed. Phone or iPad? Hassle indeed.

The week before the trip to Tawau, I made much progress for my virtual games but was stalled at Level 908 for Candy Crush and at Level 737 for Farm Heroes. And for Candy Crush Soda, issues cropped up while in Tawau.

I made it to Level 345 on the iPad but not on my iPhone. As wifi was such a hassle, I couldn’t move on and my devices were not in sync. When I finally managed to solve this, taking turns to log in my devices, I was appalled to find that the app was not updated! Either way, I was stuck and it was most frustrating.

Now that I am back, I am at my games with a vengeance. Candy Crush is now at Level 914, Candy Crush Soda at Level 351 but Farm Heroes is still at Level 737. Bummer.

Last Day

4 May

We’ve checked out from our hotel this morning and will play the last game shortly at Tawau Golf Club. It’s been hot, challenging but good and fun.

As always I look forward to our next outing with the same crazy bunch.

Where’s the Crocodile?

2 May

Shan Shui is obviously different compared to Tawau Golf Club which was very narrow. And it has a star attraction. Actually had. At the Par 3 and we heard the sad end to it.

After our game, we were seated at the Clubhouse, the Golf Director came and joined us and told us tales of how the resident crocodile ate one of his worker! Oh my goodness. We were horrified.

It seems that the worker was encroaching on the nesting beast, prodding the edge of the pond with a stick looking for lost golf balls, and mama was not happy about this. So out she leaped from the pond and grab him by the leg.

The next day, the body was discovered with the tummy section gone. Gulp… Something had to be done then. With a plan and the aid of several agencies, the resident croc was nabbed and killed. Hence, when we played today, no croc leaped out from the pond to grab us by the legs as we walked near it to approach the green. Phew.

And since we had a good time today, everyone agreed to the plan to play Shan Shui again tomorrow and play Tawau Golf Club on Monday instead.

Can’t Live Without Them

24 Apr

Although the last five days in Thailand we had sporadic wifi connectivity, my virtual games went on as they can be played without connection. It’s amazing that I even have the strength to hold up my iPad and poke at it to move candies and farm animals after a long hot day out on the golf course, followed by a bout of drinking during dinner and waking up at 5.30am the next morning only to repeat this routine for four days.

And there has been progress despite the minimal time with the iPad. Candy Crush finally moved and now at Level 894, Farm Heroes at Level 735 and Candy Crush Soda at Level 336. Looks like it will be full swing at them this weekend!

Freedom!

17 Apr

I must admit the last two weeks has been quite a juggling act. Our maid went back to her country for her annual leave. This means our work schedule had to be juggled so that one of us would be home when M2 returns from school. On top of this, we had to ensure official pet number one, Rooney, is fed his dinner on the dot. So far, it’s mostly me going home early which is fine as I am hardly working anyway. I just go to the office.

And for the last two weeks, I have been more domesticated than ever! Every weekday evening, I would make dinner at home instead of us eating out. I actually cooked! And this is not just opening cans of food as before. It has been pretty healthy and full of variety. From Chinese stir fries and soup to grills and salad, the hubby and M2 are definitely well fed. I am pleased to say I have not lost my cooking skills.

Last night, the maid returned and freedom ensued! So off for a much deserved game of golf today! Yay.

Disappointment

16 Apr

At the beginning of March this year, I have been tracking when the BMW Golf Cup International tournament would open for registration. Two days ago, I remembered to check and discovered that the tournament details were finally up; it could have been up earlier and I was not aware. Nonetheless, I was excited and quickly tried to register online.

This is a tournament that I have been playing in for the last three years and was looking forward to participating again this year. Last year’s participation was my best effort – in the three attempts – coming in first and qualifying for the National Finals. At the Finals, I had a good time and won the Longest Drive novelty in the women’s category. Reminiscing the good memories, I was ready to fill up the necessary questions.

But I was in for a surprise. When I couldn’t go beyond the ‘select the date’ option, I called BMW Voice only to be informed that I am no longer eligible to participate this year! Noooooo….

Boo hoo hoo… I found out that it is a discreet BMW policy disallowing owners with vehicles that are more than 7 years old from the date of purchase. I was crestfallen. My car is seven this year, thus the ineligibility.

Unable to hide the disappointment, I went and drown my sadness with a huge plate of Briyani rice! Something I shouldn’t eat because of the protein diet that I am on but I couldn’t help it. I needed to drown my sadness and carbo was a good reprieve.

Maybe I should consider a new model by next year? Hmm…

Progress!

13 Apr

There has been a sense of acceptance and calmness in me knowing that M1 has settled down on campus very well because we WhatsApp and Skype often. So now I focus on M2, spending a lot of time with her and constantly giving her the encouragement to do well in school so that she can be on the right path like her sister.

I have gone back to playing golf and my routine with my virtual games has progressed well too. A fellow candy crusher informed me that Level 875 was a tough one to cross but luck was on my side. I did short-work of it and currently, at Level 879 in Coco Crossroads. Another tough one to cross I must admit.

As for Candy Crush Soda, I have moved to Level 325 but looks like I will be stuck here for a bit; not an easy level to overcome. And for Farm Heroes, it was very trying to pass the two difficult levels of 726 and 728. Sitting at Level 730 now. So yeah, much progress.

Power Up

7 Apr

I finally conquered Level 867 of Candy Crush! It was just a matter of timing, patience and a bit of luck. Everyday I would spin the Daily Booster Wheel to accumulate my daily boosters then I guess timing and luck fell into place.

Last Sunday morning, I decided to go for it. Utilizing the extra moves given by fellow candy crushers, I also powered up with three boosters and finally did it! I am now at Level 872. Yay.
