Happy Anniversary!

Will there be more highlighted countries?

It was exactly a year ago today that I started this. How time flies! I find it astounding that I had so much to write for the past one year. My girls, code named M1 and M2, have been a constant story source—past and present—and it’s amazing what anecdotes I get from them. Then there’s my apps and games in my devices plus my travels, basically my daily life—happy, silly, frustrating, annoying, you name it—that I felt was worth sharing.

Initially I started out with five days of posts for the weekday. Then once I settled into a comfortable routine, I decided to do four, resting on Wednesdays and the weekends. But of course when I travel, the schedule differs.

As today is yet another milestone, I’d like to humbly thank the many viewers/readers/supporters who visited and visits daily; it makes me proud to say, I have more than a hundred bloggers worldwide following me (on top of my Facebook friends), two shy of the 8,000 view mark (today) from readers in 84 countries in the world! Never in my wildest dreams I thought I could reach these figures.

Happy Anniversary me and many more to come!

Will They Like Us?

10 Jun

Not our typical timing to have a party in the middle of a work week but hubby and I hosted a potluck party at home last week. It was a continuation of the good company over golf and lunch that I extended the impromptu invite to my friends to our home. The catch to the occasion was simply to have everyone prepare a home-cooked dish to share.

The build-up to the occasion was very exciting especially with our WhatsApp group chat. Everyone showed their food preparation process and kitchen prowess.

Pretty soon the guest list grew, with the addition of hubbies and children from an initial ladies only affair. I worried the house would explode with so many bodies at once but thank goodness, it held. There were little groups here and there – the children in the living room, the men at the garden terrace while the ladies hogged the main dining table.

My girls were worried with children coming, they’d have to play host. “What if they don’t like us?” “What should we talk about?” “What should we do?!” So many concerns. Later on, I would find out that even our young guests had the exact same thoughts as my girls!

Well, the food spread closed all gaps as there was boisterous merry-making, laughter and more laughter, children and adults alike. Any thoughts of “will they like us?” vanished as it was a great potluck party for everyone!

Oh No! Not in Synch

This is me at Level 318 on the iPad.

This is also me but at Level 314 in FB on the laptop.

And here I am also at Level 314 on the iPhone5S.

Right after I made it pass Level 314 in Farm Heroes over the weekend, I discovered I was not in synch with all my three devices! Oh no!!! So intent I was at Level 318 (on the iPad), I discovered I couldn’t carry on with the game in Facebook on the laptop or in its app on the iPhone5S because on these two, I am still at Level 314 while on the iPad (where I farm most of the time), I have progressed on to 318. Eeesh.

I’ve tried to connect to Facebook every time I’m at it but to no avail. I hope this problem will be fixed soon. Otherwise, I have to resort to asking for more lives to get pass Level 318.

My 5000th Battle!

6 Jun

Wow… I am quite the zookeeper, having done 5000 battles in Zookeeper Battle! Thank goodness for this for keeping me occupied yet not frustrated. If you must know, I am still stuck at Level 578 in Candy Crush. I think all hope and appeal is lost with the candies.

As for Farm Heroes, I finally, finally managed to get pass Level 302 and have breezed on to Level 314. The new chapter (Level 310 onwards) of Farm Heroes is set in snowy country and the new obstacle is snowballs! Pretty cute. Not as annoying as spiders or Rancid, it’s manageable. However, if I ever feel frustrated, there’s always my comfort app: Zookeeper Battle!

Because Ah!

5 Jun

When M1 was a toddler and talking a mile a minute, it was quite heartwarming to listen to her. Whenever faced with a situation, we would query her and she’d seriously reply, “Because…. ah.”

Not quite how to react to the answer initially, we would probe, “Because ah? There must be a reason!” and she’d go, “Because…. ah laa!” in a pitch higher, for emphasis, than the previous phrase stated and the case will be closed. It became quite amusing as this was always the standard answer. Regardless of situation, it is always “Because… ah” that clarifies all.

This phrase is still being used at home whenever we have conversations. It’s the mother of all answers to clarify the situation, any situation. Don’t ask how or why, else I’d happily tell you, “Because…. ah.” and further emphasize with “Because…. ah laa!” to end it all if you didn’t comprehend in the first place.

Despite this rule, somehow the girls have forgotten. One day, we were chatting away and the girls ask me something, and I replied, “Because… ah.”

“You call that an answer?” M1 questioned incredulously, obviously having forgotten the golden rule of answering initiated by her.

“Because…. ah laa!” and this clarified all. The end. Finito.

Can You Stop Growing?

3 Jun

The children are growing up too fast it’s hard to keep pace with them. The growing up needs are non-stop too.

“Mummy, I need new shoes.”

“Mummy, I need new clothes.”

“Mummy, there’s a party and I need a new dress.”

“Mummy, I am a growing child. I need to eat!” On and on they would go. Sigh…

Sometimes I get tired of their constant requests and simply told them to stop growing and stay as they are now. Wishful thinking…

Not Fun Being Stuck

2 Jun

I am still stuck at Level 578 in Candy Crush and it’s frustrating, annoying and irritating. So much so, I am crushing candies less and less. And as if this is not enough, I am also stuck at Level 302 for my Farm Heroes.

Why do these apps make life so difficult for enthusiasts like us? It’s not fun being stuck. Let us through, make it slightly easier, make us happy.
