We’re Going Home Tomorrow?

31 Aug

Gosh, the thought that by tomorrow this time, we would have landed at KLIA and on our way home makes me realize how short the vacation has been, how fast time flies!

Yes, tomorrow will be our final game at Mountain Creek Golf Club with an early morning tee off.

The massage earlier helped worked out the kink in the shoulder and back in the room, the coolness of the aircon just lulled me to almost doze off. But we still have to get dinner. We sent the driver off because Concierge suggested for us to dine at the Thai restaurant located in Greenery Resort which is closeby instead of going out to search for one. We can just use the buggy service.

Definitely we will call it an early night because tomorrow will be a long day. But I am not complaining. It’s been an awesome anniversary getaway!

Kirimaya

31 Aug

The lazy morning was just plain lazy. Breakfast was good and we had time to explore a little bit of Botanica. It is indeed beautiful from the architecture point of view, with the clever use of materials and space. Lots of infiniti pools here and there.

Soon it was time to get ready for our second game. Kirimaya was just a short distance and within 15 minutes, we arrived. There were hardly any other golfers there and we could tee off earlier than our scheduled time.

Weather was excellent despite a slight shower, it did not spoil the game.

For the second day, I played to my USGA handicap, so it feels good to be able to maintain the level. Hubby played his best game ever. All in all, the game ended all too soon. I must admit the greens were not as fast as yesterday. The course was not as sculpted like Toscana but nature played its role to shape the challenge.

A quick lunch again, this time at an eatery across the road from Kirimaya, I decided we need to go for a massage. Not so much from golf but I suspect this could be the pillows. Down pillows and I just do not do well together.

It’s been a good day!

A Hazy Start

20 Mar

I managed to catch 20 winks probably instead of 40. We arrived on time. CHX Airport looks new and within a short time, the luggages were out and our tour guide greeted us. We are using cuegolf.com again as we find their packages well-planned. Deciding breakfast was needed, we headed for fish ball flat noodles at a local coffee shop. Then an hour’s journey through the haze. I thought we were escaping the haze back home but it looks worse here.

Inthanon Golf and Natural Resort look nice but not as lush as Kirimaya (which we went to last November). Maybe it’s because of the heat and the dry looking grounds that it does not look appealing. But the resort has amusing signages and statues playfully placed here and there that makes up what it lacks.

The heat was unbearable. Thank goodness I had my umbrella. The golf course was dry and fast. Our ladies group was fairly matched; we had fun and a good fight despite the heat. Walking the whole five hours, I have definitely surpassed the walking quota for the day: 19,819 steps, 575 kcal burnt and covering 10.85km and the day has not even ended. Mind you, this stats does not include our adventure from 3.00am this morning!

All in all, it’s a good start.

Can’t help but grin when greeted by these two at the Reception.

Gloomy Skies Again

14 Nov

I woke up to gloomy skies again. Year end travel to Asian cities are usually met with gloomy skies, kind of like our version of winter with snowing conditions. When I was in Thailand last week, we also had rain in Kirimaya during our golf game, playing under a drizzle with the umbrella out and raincoats worn.

We decided to take our time before we say goodbye to Sentosa and Singapore.

It has been a good trip and we look forward to going home to cuddle M1 and M2 (and Roo).

A Review of Our Experience

9 Nov

As we head to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, we talked about how we felt about the golf courses.

For me, I thought Rancho Charnvee was very sculpted, scenic, fast and pretty. As for Kirimaya, it’s more natural, serene and tranquil but the rain made it hard to gauge.

As for Amata, we felt it was very high standard in golf terms on the quality of its compact grass, turf, fairway and even the rough; overall the place was pretty and lush.

A big thank you to our group organizer for initiating this trip and to cuegolf.com for handling our needs.

The Floating Market was not what I expected, as in not what I see on postcards and travel reviews. The colors are not that vibrant and traffic on the waterways was quite clogged up. Nevertheless, it was interesting.

The murky waters made me wonder if a catfish or something else would surface. Brr…

By 10.15am we decided to move on to our next destination.

Goodbye Kirimaya

7 Nov

By 12.45pm we were done with lunch and boarded the vans for our next stop, Bangkok.

It will be a two and a half hour ride as advised but we doubted it. Generally, I think the whole group agrees that the place is nice and highly recommends it. Trust us, cuegolf.com did a good job on this leg so far.

We are head to Bangkok now. Stay tuned…

One hour into the journey, we stopped at the Khao Yai Premium Outlet for some shopping. As you know, shopping is not my cup of tea but as we all agreed to an hour here, I did the obligatory browse through. Nothing caught my fancy. Oh well. But I did take some pretty pictures of trees.

It Rained

7 Nov

It was cool and cloudy when my three ball flight teed off. The golf course was very serene and ours to play.

The greens were very slow with the morning dew. Some holes were challenging with intimidating ponds filled with lotuses to cross, some were beautiful with big houses in the midst.

It rained in the early stages so raincoats and umbrellas came out. Thankfully there was no lightning charge in the skies, so we continued on.

As we were the first flight out and being three balls, we finished our game by 10.45am.

All in all, today’s efforts saw 392 kcal burnt, 7.41km distance covered and
13,906 steps taken.

I like Kirimaya and I think the whole group agrees to. Good plan to stay two nights here instead of just one night and being rushed.

We say goodbye to Khao Yai area now as we prepare to leave for Bangkok.

Another Early Day

7 Nov

I realize the only two times I wake up before the sun comes up is when I have a plane to catch or when I have a golf game to play.

Good morning!

Another early day has started. Day three in Khao Yai has begun. Today will be a long day, with a round of golf in Kirimaya golf resort then we journey into Bangkok in the afternoon.

Done for the Day

6 Nov

It’s not even ten and all of us are calling it a day. No bonding session tonight and the second bottle of whiskey is still around. Amazing…

Pooped from the early wake up this morning, add in the golf game plus a two hour or so of frolicking in the cold pool and coming out pruned, we are done for day two.

Day 3 will start equally early and the game will be at Kirimaya itself. Let’s hope a good night’s sleep will restore our energy for tomorrow!

Day Two Continues

6 Nov

Done with our game by 12.45pm, everyone agreed that the golf course was very pretty.

We opted to all go back to the resort and jump into the pool.

Ahh… bliss.

After the complimentary high tea, half the group jumped into the cold water to be refreshed. It was nice.

But after a while, we were pruned to the core. So plans changed again. A quick shower and another bonding session with whiskey and snacks before dinner.

Dinner plans were changed from Khao Yai Kitchen to Chokchai Steakhouse.
