Not Clear and Crisp

22 Oct

The epic hazy condition continues! Schools remain closed for the fourth day consecutively, an unprecedented record. The only time school is off is when there is a holiday stretch or a scheduled break, nothing like this before.

This shows the severity of the unhealthy conditions that has enveloped the region. Just imagine, every time when I am out, especially driving, I feel the need to clean my glasses constantly because things are not clear and crisp. The opacity percentage in the atmosphere is as if someone’s fooling around with the opacity level in Photoshop. Let’s add another ten percent! Make the background building be gone! Whee….

When will our misery end?

Again?!

20 Oct

Schools are closed again today due to the worsening haze condition! Yesterday a local online news portal headlined that the haze will be here until early 2016. Oh my goodness…

This is far worst than the previous years. All this inhalation and suffocation. Maybe we need some super divine intervention more than wind?

Ugh! It’s Back

19 Oct

Just when we thought things are okay and bearable, the haze is back! I even played golf over the weekend. Schools are ordered to be close yet again today, disrupting the schedule. While M2 is happy that she can sleep in, she lamented that she is losing out and missing the opportunity to ask her teacher on one of the subject that she needs help in preparation for the year end exam. This year, schools have closed a couple of times now because the air outside is unhealthy.

Sigh. What can we do? Many bouts of afternoon downpour has not helped to ease choked up air. As I have said before, we need wind more than rain but it is so not happening.

Ho Hum

16 Oct

I know it’s boring stuff but for the record, Moving Day yielded much progress for my virtual games. I am now at Level 805 for Farm Heroes, Level 512 for Candy Crush Soda, Level 1220 for Candy Crush and Level 595 for Monster Blasters Hexa Blast. With the weekend coming, maybe current positions will change. We shall see…

What to Name Your Fish

15 Oct

With the new aquarium and four new fishes, we were at a loss what to name them as we decided to give the name ‘Bob’ a rest. M2 and I separately checked out websites for ideas; she at bettafishhome.com and I at cuteness.com. My site had 100 popular names for fish and incidentally, Bob IS on the list too, sitting at number 42.

It’s hilarious what we found. In the end, she named her Betta, Svetlana (chortle!) as if it’s Russian or Eastern European when most Bettas are usually Asian especially from Thailand, hence Siamese.

I decided to go with a less exotic name, Bubles and hubby named his, Finney. The fourth fish remains unnamed. Perhaps we will Skype with M1 for suggestions.

New Pets Again!

13 Oct

Remember the aquarium we had and a fish called Bob Clayton? Then post-Bob era, all the fishes died? Well, we left the aquarium just filled with only water for the longest time and M2 reminded us that we had pet water.

Over the weekend, the status finally changed! Hubby bought some new fishes; this time some pretty looking Betta, otherwise known as fighting fish and the four new residents are enjoying their new home.

I just hope they last longer than the previous tenants. No decision yet whether to call them Bob or not though.

Back to Back

12 Oct

Just when I thought I couldn’t top my Miso Master effort for my Candy Crush effort in Snack Shack, I am now Mushroom Master for Fungi Forest! Back to back trophies. Yay.

My virtual games have been progressing well. I am sitting at Level 505 for Candy Crush Soda, Level 804 for Farm Heroes and Level 1210 for Candy Crush.

Even my occasional dabble in Monster Blasters Hexa Blast, I am sitting pretty good, at Stage 578.

This week I expect further progress in all games. In other words, work in the office has slowed somewhat until the next project starts.

Everybody Has Skechers!

9 Oct

I was in M2’s room one night and discovered a pair of Build-a-Bear Skechers’ sneakers. How cute. I bought them from my trip with a girlfriend donkey years’ ago to Anaheim, California. I have forgotten about them and it’s just sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

“Oh look! Skechers, like my walking shoes and new golf shoes,” I commented and started to put the mini sneakers onto Olaf, who has stumpy legs and the best candidate available to don the footwear.

“Yeah, everybody has Skechers,” replied M2.

“Yep. Me, Daddy, even Grandma and now Olaf,” I quipped.

“Except me…” M2 mumbled.

“I know. Soon. You’re in between shoe sizes now so no point buying a pair now and you will grow out of it.” I reasoned.

I guess it’s just a matter of time (and a lot of growing) before M2 joins us in having a pair of Skechers too.

Don’t they look cute?

Never Judge

8 Oct

I thought rescuing honey bears would be easier than getting four bottle caps so I have been avoiding Level 495 on my iPad. Because the level is different on the iPad and the laptop, I am limited to just playing on the laptop in the morning before I go to work and in the evening when I get home.

How wrong I have been! When my project finally closed and I took a breather, I thought why not try Level 495 on the iPad. And guess what? After just one attempt, I am through! So never judge the difficulty of the challenge presented.

Stuck Again

6 Oct

I am at the tail end of my book project so there has been time to use my iPad. But I find the iPad so slow after the update to OS9! Even with the patch 9.02, it doesn’t help. Sigh…

On the game front, things are slow figuratively and literally. I am on a tag team mode to play because rescuing honey bears over bottle caps is not as easy as I thought. So upon finishing the five lives on the laptop, I move on to work on the farm and the other candy game before almost reluctantly reaching over for the iPad when all lives are used up.

For the record, I am stuck at Level 495 for Soda, stuck at Level 800 for Farm Heroes and stuck at Level 1198 for Saga. On a brighter note, I was crowned Miso Master for Snack Shack, the previous episode in Candy Crush.

A consolation, Miso Master
