Bliss

20 Apr

When in Thailand, one must always go for a foot massage. And if you walked 17,500 steps (equivalent to 10.5km) like us today, covering 18 holes at Black Mountain Golf Club, a foot massage is bliss.

A befitting end for Day 2’s agenda. While we still have dinner and a bottle of whiskey waiting for us, I think ending a grueling day  with a soothing reflexology is always nice.

So Far So Good

20 Apr

After our golf game at Black Mountain, we visited the Hua Hin Hills Vineyard. A hot day is deserving with some good wine and a combination platter!

Guess What?

20 Apr

We decided to take a break from life and are now in Hua Hin, Thailand for some golfing fun with our regular buddies. Yesterday we departed from KLIA. Playing two rounds in Hua Hin and then back to Bangkok for one round, this has been a much anticipated trip. Thanks (again) to cuegolf.com for their services in providing us excellent golf experiences.

M2 had been prepped prior to our trip and she is fine. The maid will take care of her. And with WhatsApp and Skype, we are reachable. In fact, M1 said she will Skype her to keep her company despite the different time zones that they are both in.

It was a long day of travel with delays at takeoff, touch down, followed by baggage coming out and traffic on a Sunday evening. Ahh… Well, we are not in a hurry, after all we are on holiday.

Dinner was at a leisurely pace before we arrived and checked in at midnight.

Black Mountain Golf Club awaits us for our first game today. Looking forward to it despite only four hours of sleep.

Freedom!

17 Apr

I must admit the last two weeks has been quite a juggling act. Our maid went back to her country for her annual leave. This means our work schedule had to be juggled so that one of us would be home when M2 returns from school. On top of this, we had to ensure official pet number one, Rooney, is fed his dinner on the dot. So far, it’s mostly me going home early which is fine as I am hardly working anyway. I just go to the office.

And for the last two weeks, I have been more domesticated than ever! Every weekday evening, I would make dinner at home instead of us eating out. I actually cooked! And this is not just opening cans of food as before. It has been pretty healthy and full of variety. From Chinese stir fries and soup to grills and salad, the hubby and M2 are definitely well fed. I am pleased to say I have not lost my cooking skills.

Last night, the maid returned and freedom ensued! So off for a much deserved game of golf today! Yay.

Disappointment

16 Apr

At the beginning of March this year, I have been tracking when the BMW Golf Cup International tournament would open for registration. Two days ago, I remembered to check and discovered that the tournament details were finally up; it could have been up earlier and I was not aware. Nonetheless, I was excited and quickly tried to register online.

This is a tournament that I have been playing in for the last three years and was looking forward to participating again this year. Last year’s participation was my best effort – in the three attempts – coming in first and qualifying for the National Finals. At the Finals, I had a good time and won the Longest Drive novelty in the women’s category. Reminiscing the good memories, I was ready to fill up the necessary questions.

But I was in for a surprise. When I couldn’t go beyond the ‘select the date’ option, I called BMW Voice only to be informed that I am no longer eligible to participate this year! Noooooo….

Boo hoo hoo… I found out that it is a discreet BMW policy disallowing owners with vehicles that are more than 7 years old from the date of purchase. I was crestfallen. My car is seven this year, thus the ineligibility.

Unable to hide the disappointment, I went and drown my sadness with a huge plate of Briyani rice! Something I shouldn’t eat because of the protein diet that I am on but I couldn’t help it. I needed to drown my sadness and carbo was a good reprieve.

Maybe I should consider a new model by next year? Hmm…

The Ant Blankey

14 Apr

Every child has a favorite soft toy. They attach themselves to one as they grow up. When I was young, I had mine but that’s another story to tell next time.

Now my two girls are no different with each having their own favorite but I discovered they have more than this. Last year, I learnt that M1 secretly has an ant blankey too, just like M2’s well known possession all this while.

Now what is an ant blankey, you may want to know?

An ant blankey is a blanket that they place at the edge of the bed (strangely only on one side) to prevent innocent tiny ants from crawling up to them while they sleep. Don’t ask me how or where on earth they got this idea, but yea… my two girls have ant blankeys. Does your child have an ant blankey too?

Progress!

13 Apr

There has been a sense of acceptance and calmness in me knowing that M1 has settled down on campus very well because we WhatsApp and Skype often. So now I focus on M2, spending a lot of time with her and constantly giving her the encouragement to do well in school so that she can be on the right path like her sister.

I have gone back to playing golf and my routine with my virtual games has progressed well too. A fellow candy crusher informed me that Level 875 was a tough one to cross but luck was on my side. I did short-work of it and currently, at Level 879 in Coco Crossroads. Another tough one to cross I must admit.

As for Candy Crush Soda, I have moved to Level 325 but looks like I will be stuck here for a bit; not an easy level to overcome. And for Farm Heroes, it was very trying to pass the two difficult levels of 726 and 728. Sitting at Level 730 now. So yeah, much progress.

Snail Mail

10 Apr

There is definitely a reason why mailing a letter is termed ‘snail mail’. It’s more than two weeks and the first letter to M1 has not even arrived! Since then I have mailed another one last week and plan to mail another this week.

By the time the letters arrived, it would be stale news already. Maybe I should write in past tense to coincide with its arrival…

Just Like Grandpa

9 Apr

Not too long ago I told M1 that her Grandpa diligently wrote me letters when I was in college every single week and she requested that I do the same for her. So I decided to write real letters and mail them weekly to her at university in the USA, just like Grandpa did. Sometimes some things ought to be done the old fashion way.

There was no such thing as emails back then. Technology was probably at its infancy and for me to even get close to a computer to send emails was unheard of. Moreover, mom and dad didn’t even own a computer! So snail mail was the way to go. I still have all those lovely letters from Dad.

Besides, making phone calls were also very expensive back then in the dinosaur era. Nowadays, we are very fortunate to be so connected with WhatsApp, FaceTime and Skype.

But all in all said for the effort, I find it funny to be holding a pen and writing so much! All these while, with the advancement of technology, one just sits at the desk and type away on the keyboard to compose what they want to say in the email without holding a pen. Now I find myself struggling to pen decent looking sentences that hopefully, she can make out what I am writing!

Then again, I am pretty sure my handwriting will improve with time. For the sake of keeping up with what my Dad did, I will continue with weekly scrawny handwritten letters and snail mail them to her.

Power Up

7 Apr

I finally conquered Level 867 of Candy Crush! It was just a matter of timing, patience and a bit of luck. Everyday I would spin the Daily Booster Wheel to accumulate my daily boosters then I guess timing and luck fell into place.

Last Sunday morning, I decided to go for it. Utilizing the extra moves given by fellow candy crushers, I also powered up with three boosters and finally did it! I am now at Level 872. Yay.
