Beautiful Brains, Part 2

Ohm nom nom...

Ohm nom nom…

“Mommy! Mommy! Come feel my skin,” M2 urges me enthusiastically several nights ago. “It’s so smooth! And you know why?”

“I don’t know. Tell me,” I indulged her.

“You’ve stopped calling us that name!” she said happily.

Feigning surprise, I said,”Ahh…. the ‘P’ word. I’ve been calling you two ‘Beautiful skin with brains’ and ‘Beautiful brains’, that’s why.”

“But you know what?” she added. “Not only my skin is so smooth now, my face is so round like the mooncakes we’ve been eating!”

It is the Mid-Autumn Festival this week and we have been savoring a lot of mooncakes. The girls love all the different flavors and eating to their heart’s content.

“Maybe you should call us ‘Skinny Face’ instead so that we don’t have mooncake faces because the other name worked,” M2 suggested.

Hahahaha… I don’t know… somehow ‘Skinny Face’ is not such an endearing term.

Beautiful Brains

I like to call my girls all kinds of terms of endearment just for fun. Actual names are hardly used at home. Everyday when I reach home, upon opening the front door, I’d holler, “Minions! I’m home!!!” This went on for awhile, then I changed.

“Pimples! I am home!!!” or “Pimples, good night.” before bedtime.

Pimples? Well it sounds more personal than ‘people’ and it sort of rolls off the tongue.

One day, M2 complained, “Mommy, you shouldn’t call us ‘pimples’ cos I am getting a lot of it! It’s like a jinx. You should call us ‘brains’ or ‘beautiful skin’ so that we get these instead!”

Such brilliance from this child of mine.

So now the term of endearment is, “Beautiful brains! I am home!”
