Have I Grown… sideways?

13 Jun

It’s been ages since I went to my girlie spa to pamper myself. The thought of driving so far just does not appeal. But when an unexpected project on a tight deadline packed with stress and more stress came last week, I thought I deserve a little break.

So I went to the spa over the weekend for some me time.

I remember the towel being a big comfortable size that one can just sink into the softness. It was very fluffy and fuzzy to wrap myself in it. This time?

It felt two sizes smaller and the ends could barely meet! Did I grow sideways or the towel is now smaller? Hmm…

I know I have not been exercising (no golf in other words for the longest time) and carving does not burn much calories, but have I actually expanded sideways that much? Hmm… again.

I went into the steam room with the intention to steam off some of the excess err… baggage that I have accumulated of late and it felt good. But whether they oozed away it did not matter because the 15 minutes did wonders for the soul, followed by an aromatherapy massage and facial.

Maybe sometimes I need a little more stress and challenge at work to reward myself such little pleasures.

Four Years Ago

12 Jun

It was on this date four years ago that I started this blog and have been going on strong until now. I seem to have a lot to write and share.

But I must say a big “Thank you!” to all my readers out there and “Happy Anniversary” to me and my blog! Keep it up.

Green Fingers

9 Jun

It’s a known fact that the one who has green fingers at home is not me but hubby. Yes, the man of the house has more appreciation for the flowers, plants and trees than me. He enjoys gardening and the garden more than me; I just stay indoors to carve, paint and crush candies.

The hot weekend last week had us staying at home after returning from lunch at the mall and doing what we enjoy most – gardening and carving.

Whilst I added more citizens to Gigglesville, hubby was busy creating cactus landscapes in little pots. Who knows, maybe they can be props for my Gigglesville?

At a Crossroad, Part 2

8 Jun

The thought of getting another tattoo cropped up last year and again, right around my birthday in April. It is both exciting and worrying. Exciting because it’s something new, akin to a new toy. Worrying because I may not like it. At a crossroad…

What should I get?

Seeing that I am a dinosaur nowadays, maybe a tattoo of one would be good…

Hmm…

Sex in the Garden

6 Jun

This morning when I was at the kitchen, I spotted Sammy and Lefty in the garden. They quickly scurried behind the bushes but not in time for me to see one trying to hump the other. Sex in the garden… Heaven forbids!

I hope this will not result in babies because these squirrels poop everywhere – in the garden, in front of the house and even at the car porch. And babies will mean we have to take care of them! We have enough on our hands taking care of all our pets plus the birds that come on a daily basis for breakfast and dinner.

Sammy once tried to go inside Rooney’s cage just to rile him up. Mean. So if I see them trying to be kinky, I will definitely break up their little tryst.

Pablo Had Us Worried

5 Jun

The past few days, Pablo had us so worried. He seemed disconnected and hid in the pot all the time. Does not even flare his pincers whenever I check on him, just curls deeper into the back timidly.

We weren’t sure if he was preparing to moult but he looked weakened without eating anything for days. Possible hunger strike?

We had to do something. So last night, hubby decided to remove the pot and put the driftwood back, positioning it carefully so that that we can still have a clear view (in fact, better than the last time) and Pablo can still dig his trench. Immediately, Pablo’s behavior changed!

Thank goodness, he even managed to catch a prawn and gobbled it up and soon was back to his old feisty self. Phew! I think he missed the driftwood. His security blanket of sorts.

Gigglesville Has a Mayor!

2 Jun

I am so in the thick of carving, I bought a new piece of balsa to carve besides some new canvases as I have promised a few pieces for friends. A promise is a promise regardless of the tennis elbow. I just need to find the inspiration to get that going.

In the meantime, I have given much thought to the township of Gigglesville. But before the town blooms, I think it needs a mayor, hence this character.

Now in my world, mayors in general are usually short and stout, so naturally the mayor of Gigglesville is shorter and wider than the usual citizens. But he has to also be different, therefore the cool shades instead of big round eyes.

Taking the Plunge

1 Jun

I finally decided to update the OS on my iPhone5S after the prompt to update to iOS10.3.2 came two days ago.

Two reasons for taking this plunge after holding out for so long – I finally backed up my phone. I didn’t do this previously because of space issues on the laptop and compatibility problems with the old computer but now with a new computer in the office, I have synced my phone to it.

Second reason being, I would like to donwnload some new apps that I was unable to previously because the minimal requirement is iOS 8.0 and my phone’s still at iOS7.1.2! Yes, my phone’s such a dinosaur like me.

Put it this way, I don’t have Uber on my phone and I think this app is far more important than Candy Crush, which I have deleted from my phone several months ago. Candy Crush Saga is now limited to the laptop only because it’s also gone from the iPad.

Thank goodness after the update, the phone did not have any major issues like my iPad Mini two years ago after its update. Phew! Although I have no regrets holding out for so long, I must admit it’s a timely decision because a lot of my go-to apps have updates. And possibly an older OS on the phone may not be compatible. Well, I don’t need to face this predicament from today onwards.
